Griffin is a gamble. Health and being a rental makes me scratch my head.
Is Griffin a better offensive player. Yes he can be.. His body is the issue. Can he make a impact on the defense? Can he run and get easy baskets?
I liked the reasoning and would add that brown can probably guard small forwards..
So what we give up is Crowder and get back major salary? or are we doing a panda, bucholz and Crowder for Griffin and Peirce?

Griffin's injury history is not really that bad when you look at it. He played 80 or more games in three of his first four seasons. In season five he had a staph infection that cost him about 13 games. His one recent injury was a quad tendon last year that cost him most of the season. He doesn't have bad knees, or feet and is only 27.
He's signed through 2018 - which isn't ideal, but isn't a rental either.

Just read a piece from Adam Himmelsbach on CLNS that most of the Griffin/Westbrook talk is overblown. most of the reports are from sources on other teams or from bloggers making suppositions. No one he has talked to on the Celtics have said there have been any discussions on either one. He says that it's not near as intense as most people are thinking.

I kind of buy that, but what lots of others are saying is that Danny is the one most likely looking to make a big trade.

Danny is looking to make a trade and that's why the Celtics are brought up in every trade scenario. A rumor pops up that a team may look to trade a player and immediately there are rumors that the Celtics are in talks to get them. I hope that Danny isn't willing to overpay and give up too much to make a trade.
The Celtics have time on their side. They have a young team that won 48 games last season and they added one very big upgrade in Horford. Rozier has proved that we will get quite a bit of improvement from some of our young guys. Smart is working hard on his shot according to reports. Hunter is putting on muscle and should be improved. Crowder will come back improved. Olynyk should be better. And we added Jaylen Brown.
We still have a top pick coming next year. We will have cap room for another max contract next season to add to the players who will be another season better and more experienced. No reason to make a bad trade or to give up too much. Patience is the name of the game for the Celtics.

Smitty on RealGM points out that Zeller, Gerald and Demetrius have only agreed to a contracts -- they haven't signed yet and it isn't official yet. These moves today are looking like something is being set up.

Also, Jaylen Brown has yet to be signed. And with our final roster spot already being in competition between 4 players, and with our salary almost near its limit, we will have a hard time signing Jaylen unless the roster is trimmed.
This is another indicator that something is in the works.
