Check us celticsblog today regarding Griffin and Westbrook trades. Short version: Chris Mannix and Steve Bulpett say nothing is happening on either front. This part made me laugh:
POLL Who do you believe when it comes to the Griffin/Westbrook rumors?
41% Chris Mannix and Steve Bulpett (878 votes)
59% The car salesman and the switchboard operator (1265 votes)

Yep, that poll would be hilarious if it wasn't so true. People would rather believe the rumors with no sources than the two guys who should actually know.
But then again, I still remember when Danny traded for Wally Sczcerbiak at the trade deadline. He was on CSN and said that there was absolutely nothing on the table for anyone. 15 minutes later the trade for Wally was announced. So, you can't go by anything ANYONE says about any trade. EVER! LOL

And even the great Woj has been wrong too.
Again, it helps me to pass the time, thinking of all these trade scenarios. But what is different this time around is we don't need to make any trades, and we're still going to be a good team, especially considering the high lottery talent we're going to add in the coming drafts.

Absolutely! It is fun to think about what might be IF we were to get one of these players. I love that we don't NEED to make a trade since we have cap room for another max player next year and we have 2 top picks coming and that we were a 48 win team last season and should be better this season with the addition of Horford and the improvement in the young guys. But if a trade is made for a super star more the better! I'm a fan of being patient, though.

It got kind of quiet on the Sixers front, but with coming Saric over, they have too much bodies in the frontcourt:
Okafor Nerlens Embiid Simmons Saric
Now way they're going to be able to properly develop these young guys if they have to shuffle their minutes so often.
Maybe Saric can play some SF because he can at least shoot it a bit from the perimeter. But Simmons is stuck at PF until he proves he's capable of shooting the ball.
How much will their asking price for Okafor drop? What about a protected future 1st round pick?

Do you guys think that Danny needs to be held accountable for doing little to improve the team.?
We traded Sully for horford. slight improvement but major salary...
we traded Evans for brown. well brown is looking good but this year will he put up Evans numbers.
So looking at the team.. how much have we improved.. lost cap flexibility.. And the rest of the draft picks? Where are all our assets?

I think Ainge has us in a very good spot for now and the future.
When you say Evans of you mean Evan Turner?

I liked Turner, but not at the price he commanded. Will Brown be as good this year as Turner was last year? Maybe not, but I don't think that's the question. The question should be, "who will contribute more when we are ready to compete for a championship?" Signing Turner would also have put us out of next year's free agent market - at least for the big fish.
As far as Sullinger vs Horford, it should tell you something that no one offered Sullinger a multi-year deal, and the Nets offer wasn't for very much. On the other hand, multiple teams were willing to offer Horford the max for 4 years. Evidently the consensus is that Horford is a much better player.

And the implications are that Danny is not done yet with summer moves.
But even if it were, you gotta think we are already a better sauad than last year, even though we lost Turner.
Horford is an upgrade over Sully on offense and defense. We are getting back a healthy Olynyk, who had some confidence building moments last season before the injury. Rozier will be used in the rotation, and if he does nothing else but pull down rebounds for us and push the ball up the court, that is sti a missing element we've added to this year's team. But he'll likely do more than just that.
Hoping Marcus and Crowder can take their games to the next level (have better shooting %).
Plus, we still have a maturing Brad Stevens roaming the sidelines. He's a huge key to our success, and he's quickly figuring out what works in the NBA.

One of the things I'm looking forward to is Rozier and Brown, and maybe Bradley on FAST, fast breaks. Those three have elite speed and could benefit from really pushing the ball.

Yes I meant Evan Turner. I think my bottom line look at our roster is accurate. We lost Evan but gained brown. irregardless of what he signed for or where he went. he was part of 48 wins. many nights he carried the team. or sparked it..
So how do we think by losing two key players that we are fine. This draft was supposed to be a major upgrade and influence.. Have we gone forward..?
I like what I have heard about rozier.wish I could watch those games..is he good enough to start at point? Thomas is best off the bench?

I like what I have heard about rozier.wish I could watch those games..is he good enough to start at point? Thomas is best off the bench? Overall I think we are better just by having Horford over Sully. Turner was very inconsistent on offense (as was the team) so he shouldn't be hard to replace overall, we just don't know for sure if that person is on the team yet because of the inexperience of the young guys at the NBA level. Only time will tell what kind of position we are in with our young guys. That is why I am ok with going forward with the team that we have. Let's get a better idea of what we have and keep the flexibility to sign two max guys next year and keep both of the Nets picks. Going for a 1 year rental for any of the three guys who we have been linked with is being foolish and trying to catch Cleveland too early. (unless they agree to an extension as a part of the trade, which any of them would be crazy to do) A year from now LeFlop will have another year of wear and tear and at 32 will have a lot of NBA mileage on him. Unless he is superhuman, he is due to start slowing down in the next couple of years. So if we stay patient we can put a team together that will be primed to overtake them. Not to mention that Golden State won't be able to keep all of those guys past this year. Let those teams battle for the third time in a row and then start looking at putting together a team for a run to overtake both of them. I have always thought that the true sign of us being a contender with this team is to have enough talent in the starting lineup to put Thomas as our 6th man. I don't think he is a starter on a championship level team.

We haven't had a big this good since pre knee injury KG. There's a reason Horford was guaranteed to get a max contract while sully is playing on a 1 year/6 mill deal. And I like Sully's game, but he can't hold a candle to Horford. And while Turner definitely exceeded my expectations, I'm glad he's gone. let some other team pay a backup 17 mill a year. and we need to let marcus get Smart's backup PG minutes anyhow. we have to see if he can sink or swim.

Did you say we can sign 2 max guys next year?
if that's the plan, I sure hope it's not going to be like this year.. Chasing after someone who never was coming to Boston? And losing out on great talent.
I agree also Thomas is ideally not a starter .. But a sparkplug off the bench..
At some point we need to cash in for a superstar or a bench of starters.
