I would think GG needs to put on some weight without losing explosiveness before he can play SF much.

I think Green will be a great pro. I don't see him as a T-Mac but maybe 3/4ths of what Reggie Lewis was which meant not a superstar ego like Pierce but a great player nonetheless. I see Darius Miles and Reggie Lewis in Gerald Greens game. Darius Miles comparisons are usually bad because of his attitude but the way Green can dunk and the athleticism I am comparing to Miles.

I concur that Green will be a great pro. Time, and development will show if he is a perenial all-star or just an all-star.

I'd say the odds are about even on him being out of the league in five years against him being a perrenial all-star. Remember, he hasn't played a game yet. He could be T-Mac or he could be jonathan Bender.

The difference between Jonathan Bender and Gerald Green is their focus and their self confidence. While guys like Bender and Kedrick Brown had the talent to be good players, they didn't have the mental part working for them and that has been their downfall. Joseph Forte had a different mental issue altogether.
But Green, from what I've seen of him, has the confidence in himself to not only play at this level, but be a star. Now, his confidence may be a bit shaky right now because he's stepping into a whole new arena, playing with the big boys. But his confidence will soar as he finds that he has the talent and skill to compete with NBA players.

But what really have you seen of him? A couple high school highlite reels? Some summer league box scores? Im not saying that he's gonna be a bust, far from it. I think it was a great pick by Ainge. But assuming this kid is gonna be an all-star from the almost non-existant data we have to go on is a bit presumptuous.

Call it my intuition, Fresh. I may not be the next Brain Doctor, but I do think I have a fairly accurate sense of a player's level of determination. That's the reason why I rank Delonte higher on the chart than Banks, even though Banks has him beat in overall skills. Delonte has it in him to be a player who comes through in big games, while I question Banks' ability to come up with a big shot when we need it. Just the look on their faces and their body language tells me that Delonte is more focused on the game. I don't get that impression from Banks. That's why he has issues with his confidence--I don't feel that he's sure about himself or his game.
I get the sense by looking at Green's facial expression and his body language that he has confidence to do things on the court that many players can only dream of. He's certainly got a game face that's says that he's fixed on the game. Even in the dunk contest, he rose up to the challenge whenever the bar was set higher, and he was confident about it too.

Derren sometimes I feel I have the same intuition except this year so many players I liked were drafted so low. But that happened to everyone and at least players I liked were drafted higher.

I am not sure what would be a worse comparison, being the next J Forte or the next K Brown.

I am not sure what would be a worse comparison, being the next J Forte or the next K Brown. Or Gomes being the next PP (attitude in check)? I see Gomes more of an inside presents. Posting up and driving on a break. Not a slasher like PP. I do think he knows how to get the 'and1' like Pierce.

Yeah, I made that comparison between Gomes and Pierce because both guys seem to have similar body types. But like you said, C17, Gomes is more adept at going inside with his back to the basket and Pierce is more adept at shooting from the perimter.
And in comparing their slashing skills, Pierce is better at slashing and penetrating into the lane off the dribble, while Gomes slashes by feeling his way into the paint.

Boy was I on the wrong page about this thread DM... ;D
I think we got a couple guys in GG and RG, in this draft, that can take the ball to the hoop and get fouled. This could be great in a fastbreaking offense.
That's one of the things I like about PP - the way he gets to the line.
