Can't see that waiving Blount would save any money. Not sure about Raef. All the instances I have seen of peoplewho might get waivaed are of people with a max K or close to it.

Like Ferbo mentioned, Blount will not be waved. $5million? That is not what the rule is designated for. It is designated for players w/ max contracts, like Raef for example, who signed a mega deal and are hurt. AKA - the Allan Houston rule.

I don't much think Raef's is a max. Probbably wrong.

No, Blount is far from making the max. He's making 42 million through the length of his contract, so it basically comes out to about 6 mil per year (or somewhere in that ballpark).

Raef's contract may not be a max contract, but it is close to it. Most would agree, Raef gives it his best but his stats just don't compare to player making $10-13 million a season.

No one would have any complaints about Raef if he was only making 7 mill a year. He's a good team player and rather unselfish. He could earn his keep a lot more by being a more aggressive scorer. I liked how he was rebounding early in the season. He tailed off after the half, but that's to be expected with his knees being gimpy. At least he played in almost every game after only playing in 17 his first year with us.
Giving him regular games off will help to keep him fresh and more productive.

If Raef was the 4th or 5th big off the bench and was getting paid like it I admit I wouldn't have a problem with him

I'm wondering if Gomes is more like a Rick Fox than EW. Maybe with more posting ability.
I wonder if he will prove to be a better 3 than Allen will a 2?

Raef making 6-7 mil is accurate. Not frikken 12mil. Now, Gomes I think can make a better 3 than Allen did at the 2. Its good that our team has many interchangable position type guys speaking of which. Gomes and Reed are both pf/sf types. West is a sg/pg. Jefferson could be a pf/c.

to be precise raef will get 9,99 million for the next season, 10,9 for 2006/2007. i'm sure that when his contract will be 12,7 million in 2008/2009 all the big guys will get a lot bigger salaries

Rick Fox was a pretty solid complimentary player for the Lakers in their dynasty. He would often come up with some timely points and rebounds. I do see Gomes being a solid complimentary player for us. Both he and Justin Reed.

Fox was a solid roler player. Though, he always thought he was the "man". Not a first-round selection in my opinion. Is he still after T Parkers wife? ;D

I'll have to disagree with you there, Roadrunner. I think most teams would be thrilled if most of their late round 1sts ended up having a career like Rick Fox, the guy played thirteen seasons, and spent a good chunk of those years either averaging double figures for the Celtics of starting on a three time championship Laker team. I'll take that any day.
