Ferbo, Gomes was originally from NJ and moved to CT. He played ball at Wilby (a public school in Waterbury, CT). Wilby I do not think developed him. Providence I think was one of the only schools to give him a scholarship. Gomes made very very big strides at PC.

With Gomes and Ricky Davis coming off the bench, we have 2 capable scorers who can provide consistent scoring. If Banks has improved from last year (especially his jumper), we'll have 3 quality scorers off the bench.
Orien is a wild card at PG. He could work his way up to the backup slot, possibly pushing Banks out of the way off the team, or as a 3rd PG. IMO, he fits in better as a steady backup PG than Banks.
Gomes and Justin Reed will be battling for the backup slot at the 4/3. Both can play some PF and SF, but neither are true at either of those positions. They basically mirror each other and I think the loser of the battle will be the one who is sent packing. IMO, Gomes is the better overall player. I feel that Ainge could still hold onto Reed, but he'll be a guy who only gets 5 - 7 minutes a game.

we'll know a lot more after the summer league. it's too early to give out roster spots just yet. but yeah gomes should be better than reed and orien is the wild card at our pg position

Granted, it is too early to start handing out future roster spots, but with the players we are drafting, I find it easy projecting how they will develop and where they will be productive.
GG is a future starter at SF with star potential, Gomes is a future important productive player off the bench, and Orien has a good chance to be our backup PG.

I don't think Derren really said what he was hoping to express, I believe he was saying we enjoy the company of having very knowledgable Celtics fans join us and that someone who has had the privledge or watching those legends must have emassed loads of memories and insight into Celtics basketball. If I got that wrong Derren let me know then I'll take it as my thoughts : )
Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy your stay.

Re: Gomes, I think he could really end up like an Eric Williams type player, a hard worker, who can hit the ocassional big shot, and will fight even if a little shorter, a little slower, due to his hard work and love of the game.

Gomes is a quality guy to have. He worked very hard at PC. He wasnt going to play at all as a freshman but because of injuries to key players an also a bad start to the season Tim Welsh decided to play him. He finished the game with 13 points and 7 rebounds. He was the starting PF after that. He just kept getting better. As a sophomore he averaged 18 and 9. As a junior he developed an outside shot and took the team to the ncaa tournament out of the big east. The kid works hard and is a great character guy. He is not flashy but very steady. One of my favorite players to watch from PC . Right up there with Eric Williams, Austin Croshere, etc. I hope he makes the team and contributes this year. He is a great person and will make a great Celtic.

No one is going to get cut Meltin. Having the NBDL will give these player time to 'develope'... Hopefully by the time they come back, 2 old ones of ours can be waived (Blount, Raef).
