On McRoberts, I think he is the posterchild for kids to come out of highschool.
He was gonna be a top 5 pick in that draft, (possibly to Portland in the 6 slot) Even last year he probably would have been a lottery pick, but that is what 2 years at Dook will do to you. My fellow tarheel, Tyler Hansbrough had the right idea.

This was one of the ugliest games I have ever watched.

Hansbrough has seen his stock slip too. And he's been in school longer. He keeps getting better at UNC and his stock keeps slipping.
I guess McRoberts could have come out, but didn't. When you miss your chance you should stay.

This was one of the ugliest games I have ever watched. I saw 70% of the game in the maternity ward and it made me fall aspleep. It was horrid. I'd say the least unimpressive player on either side was Jackie Butler for the Spurs. Just horrid. Just really really bad.

BTW, Marcus Banks set a new scoring record in the Las Vegas Summer League tournament, with 42 pts.

When you miss your chance you should stay. The thing with Hansbrough, having seeing as much as i do, is that he is basically a man among boys. What you see is what you get, he is entering his Junior season, but will be 22 when the season starts. He is one of those guys who should stay in school all four years regardless. If he was to come out next year, he would be 23 when the season started and older than guys on Celtics such as Gerald Green, Rondo, and by then a 5 year vet, Dwight Howard.

Hansborough is a terrific collegiate, but I think he's the type of player whose game doesn't really translate well to the NBA. At the college level, he does a lot of his scoring in the trenches, where he is able to use his strength and nose for the basket to power his way for the score. But at 6'8", he'll get swallowed up by NBA big men who are quicker and longer. He's not explosive enough, and his game isn't versatile enough.
But I do like the kid--he's got a lot of heart and passion.

Boston Celtics (1-1) vs Chinese National Team (1-2) Wednesday, July 10, 2007 10:00 PM Eastern Time NBA-TV, FSN
Boston Celtics Roster No. Player Pos. Ht. Wt. College/year 57 Lance Allred C 6-11 270 Weber State 46 Pat Carroll G/F 6-5 190 St. Joseph’s 11 Glen Davis F 6-9 289 Louisiana State 59 Torin Francis F 6-11 252 Notre Dame 58 Andreas Glyniadakis C 7-1 280 Greece 5 Gerald Green G-F 6-8 200 Gulf Shores Academy 0 Leon Powe F 6-8 240 California 13 Gabe Pruitt G 6-4 170 Southern California 12 Allan Ray G 6-2 190 Villanova 9 Rajon Rondo G 6-1 171 Kentucky 36 Sergio Sanchez G 6-3 207 Spain 49 Brandon Wallace F 6-9 203 South Carolina
Probable Starters Rondo/Ray/Green/Davis/Powe
Players to Watch Brandon Wallace: Wallace has been impressing with his athleticism and defense so far and hopefully, this will continue.
Big Baby Davis: He had a strong outing in his last game and hopefully will continue improving in this game. His defense and rebounding have been good, but his offense needs a lot of improving since he shot only 15% in the first 2 games.
Rajon Rondo: Rondo had an off game against the Spurs. Hopefully he will get back on track and play more under control this game.
Gerald Green: Green has been struggling with his shot but has been working on other parts of his game. He is due to get on track offensively and have a big game.
Chinese National Team Roster Li Nan (198-F-76) of Bayi Army Rockets Wang ZhiZhi (214-C-79) of Bayi Army Rockets Mo Ke (209-C-82) of Bayi Army Rockets Wang Zhongguang (193-G-87) of Bayi Army Rockets Yi Jianlian (212-C/F-87) of Guandong Southern Tigers Du Feng (203-C/F-81) of Guandong Southern Tigers Zhu Fangyu (200-F-83) of Guandong Southern Tigers Wang Shipeng (197-F/G-83) of Guandong Southern Tigers Zhou Peng (208-F-89) of Guandong Southern Tigers Chen Jianghua (187-G-89) of Guandong Southern Tigers Zhang Qingpeng (190-G-85) of Liaoning Panpan Hunters Yang Ming (194-G-87) of Liaoning Panpan Hunters Li Xiaoxu (204-F/C-90) of Liaoning Panpan Hunters Sun Yue (206-G-85) of Beijing Aoshen Olympians Zhang Song Tao (215-C-85) of Beijing Aoshen Olympians Huo Nan (198-F-82) of Beijing Aoshen Olympians Ming Yao (226-C-80) of Houston Rockets (USA) Liu Wei (190-G-80) of Shanghai Dongfang Sharks Wang Yong (202-F-86) of Shanghai Dongfang Sharks Tang Zhengdong (213-C-84) of Jiangsu Nangang Dragons Nanjing Han Shuo (198-G-89) of Jiangsu Nangang Dragons Nanjing Gong Songlin (197-G/F-81) of Fujian SBS XunXin
Probable Starters Li/Wang/Mo/Wang/Yi
Players to Watch: Yi Jianlian: Yi is averaging 17.3 points and 5 rebounds so far in Vegas.
Wang Zhizhi: Wang Zhizhi is China's best player averaging 18.3 points and 7 rebounds per game.
Zhu Fangyu: Zhu the third highest scorer for China and is averaging 9.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
We will need to play better than we did against the Spurs to beat the Chinese team. If we play well, we should be able to beat them. It will be interesting to see how Davis, who was our draft pick, will play against Yi, who would have been our pick if we had kept the pick.

The Chinese National Team is really bad. I really was not impressed with Yi at all.

I like having 2 guys in double figures in RBs, even in the summer league.

I think Green's play is disappointing. Reggie Lewis, in summer league after his first years, was "a man playing among boys," as I recall. Know GG was high=school rather than 4-year college, but as both were/are wings, I was hoping for a better showing.

I thought th China game was also just horrid. Just made me want to throw up. Also I think playing Ray and Rondo at the same time is dumb. I also admit I 90% take back the Tractor Traylor comments about Glen Davis. Sometimes he gets swatted by a 7 ft 3 chinese dude, but when there's a fast break he's never last down, and is sometimes 2nd. I think him and Powe will really push each other. They are totally different and yet exactly the same
