All this movement makes me think the plan is to get Beal. I have to wonder now if they can sign and trade Fournier for him, but basically I see maybe Horford and Smart out the door along with maybe Romeo and Nesmith. We're at the point where there are a lot of wings on the team now.
The pg position is also untenable. I think this is maybe what Gaston meant when he implied there would be a ton of movement in July. We clearly have a very strong set of wings now, and decently deep bigs. PG would typically be the thing to try to fix now, but I think Brad thinks in terms of positionless basketball more and he also is probably thinking in terms of roles. He hopefully ships out Marcus and says to both Jaylen and Jayson separately "This is your chance to rack up the assists and be a complete player like the Lebrons."
I think defense might start to take a back seat now.

I think Brad really likes Horford, for what he does from the big position. Maybe we hold onto him and he becomes our PJ Brown 2.0.
I'd like to know what Brad and Udoka's ideal big man looks like.

Interesting that the players Brad has brought in have contracts that end in the summer of 2022.
That means we have a bunch of salaries coming off the books next summer.
Or we can bundle these expiring contracts in a trade to a team getting rid of a star player who wants expiring contracts in return.

Ive heard rumors we may pair a bunch of these contracts and do a sign n trade for Lonzo Ball. No clue how valid these rumors are. Depending on the money this could be an intriguing move.

I'm seeing a pattern forming so far, where defensive players are being brought in, which isn't terribly surprising given the falloff in our D last year.
First Kemba is shipped out and Al and Moses are brought in.
Then we get Josh Richardson and Kris Dunn.
And we draft Begarin, who is a year or two away but projects as a defensive monster.
The only guy we've brought in so far that I think you'd classify as primarily an offensive player is the undrafted kid Sam Hauser.

Defense is going to be brought back the the fore. I'm no fan of Kris Dunn's offense, but his defense is good. Josh Richardson's defense is solid.

I've been entertaining this thought in my head. Ball is young and fits in with Tatum and Brown's timeline. He immediately helps with ball movement. He's a reliable three point shooter. He loves to get out in transition. He's tall for the 1, and he plays good defense. He knows his role. There's a lot to like here. And he hasn't reached his ceiling.

Another big man is shipped out (Moses Brown, and before him Tristan Thompson).
This screams that we have a plan for the big man spot. Right now we only have a 35 year old Horford and an oft injured Rob Williams.

Wait, I don't understand this. How do we trade Moses Brown straight up for Josh Richardson, who makes waaaaaay more than Brown.

Just a thought. Could John Collins be the big man target?
We don't have the cap space so it'll have to be a sign and trade.
This could be where Jaylen Brown comes into play.
Jaylen goes to his home state and boosts their chances to make it out of the East.
Collins saw his stats dip a bit this past year (playing less minutes, taking less shots) because Clint Capela and the up and rising Onyeka Okwongu.
We are thin at the Bigs and lack star power there. Collins is knocking at the door of being an All-Star, if he can have more opportunity.
Win Win for both teams.
And if Beal is the target, we'll be a better balanced team having a stud guard (Beal), a stud wing (Tatum) and a stud Big (Collins).

I heard on the radio Smart for Ball. That would make me pretty happy. If Tatum is Giannis, and Jaylen is Middleton Ball can be Jrue. Pritchard is DiVincenzo. Not too hard to find a PJ Tucker or a Pat Conaughton. Or a Lopez.

I'd be surprised if he's still on the team in a year.
