We are one of a handful of teams interested in Ricky Rubio. Doesn't play defense, and his perimeter shooting isn't top notch, but he knows how to direct an offense and pass the ball. What do you guys think? Prime Rubio was a top 10 defensive guard in the league. Dude was a monster. Zach Lowe would put him on his all-underrated defensive team every season. And i think if you get him on a good team again he'd be that guy. They just never knew what to do with him in Minny this second time around. Personally, I wouldn't mind having him here. He's the opposite of Smart, though, and not necessarily in a good way. Dude is afraid to shoot a la Rajon Rondo. The offense grinds to stop when dudes pass up wide open shots, or lanes to the basket. But dude is a great floor general. Depending the price i'd look at bringing him in.

So what does it mean that we are targetting Ball?
Are we looking at better ball movers? More size at the Point? More uptempo guys?

I think Ball might overvalue himself and this puts us out of his price range. I saw one rumour saying we were trying for Brogdon? And if not Brogdon then maybe Dinwiddie?

Looks like we got rid of Thompson to Atlanta for Kris Dunn, Bruno Fernando (who won't make the roster) and a 2023 second round pick per Woj. So we trade a guy with knee issues for a guy with ankle issues that only played four games last season.

So we trade a guy with knee issues for a guy with ankle issues that only played four games last season. Hey, I Iike this. I don't think either Dunn or Fernando will contribute for us and this was done primarily to free up money, but what this tells me is Brad has someone in mind to beef up our 5 (you don't trade away a serviceable veteran Tristan Thompson without having his replacement in mind).

I agree with Derren. At this moment in time we have two better big man options. And we could use a pg. Dunn could end up being a way cheaper Marcus Smart.

Wow, that's a good chunk freed up there.

I'm assuming we're making as much cap space to re-sign Fournier, right? There isn't a bigger free agent fish we are after, right?

In Brad's presser yesterday, he says he's looking to add experienced players who play with an edge and know their role.
Sounds to me we're not looking to make a big splash this summer, but primarily bring in veteran role players who play with grit (who aren't so expensive).
For big men, available unrestricted free agents are JaMychal Green, Frank Kaminski, Enes Kanter, Willy Hernangomez, DeMarcus Cousins, Taj Gibson, Harry Giles, to name a few that fit into the above category.
For wings and guards: Josh Richardson, Otto Porter, Danny Green, Patti Mills, Doug McDermott, to name a few.

These moves so far by Brad should be examined carefully. Watch the players he sends out and who he brings in, and notice if we see character tendency or physical traits or playing style that they have in common.
Maybe Brad didn't want Kemba or Tristan Thompson to begin with.

Right on! I like this Brad Stevens guy who is our new GM!!
Josh Richardson is the free agent I wanted. Wing guy who can defend and contribute offensively.

So we are one guy over and still have to sign Evan. Not to mention we still don't have a starting caliber PG on the roster. I wonder who we will try to trade for to fill that hole.
