I don't get why the Lakers would sign him. To win a few more games this year? So they can rise to mediocrity sooner? He's obviously too old and injury-prone to be a building block. Maybe it's just to minimize the value of their pick this year, which goes to either us or Philly. I just don't see it.

I'm hoping this will highlight the greatness of Ainge, and the ineptness of Magic Johnson. Ainge has twice dove into a rebuild -- he came out with a championship the first time, and is heading for another one. We'll see just how much savvy Magic has up his sleeve.

Ainge's philosophy with veteran free agents, the ones that will play for the minimum, is that most likely there is not a player there that can help. Bogut, great on paper, however can not stay healthy, and does not fit Brad's system.

I think Baynes and Bogut are similar in their effect and presence on the court. I'm sort of thinking maybe Bogut was too expensive (2+ mil), and yeah, the health part too.

That team is turning scary good. Once they start to click and operate as one unit, they'll be up there among the tops in the East.

If Melo stills has All-Star fuel left in his tank (might be near empty, or close to it), this could make OKC one of the top 4 teams in the West.

Carmelo Anthony was traded to OKC for Enes Kanter, Douglas McDermott and a 2018 second round pick. Poo poo platter. IMO that team is going to struggle just as bad if not worse than Houston is. OKC now has 3 isolation specialists and not much else, with 2 of them who can't shoot. As for Houston they were good last year because Harden had control of the offense and the Western Conference Virgin will mess that up. I don't see either team being a threat to the top 2 in the West. I still think Minnesota is the 3rd best team in the West now. Not to mention all three can be free agents after the season in OKC's case.

OKC probably knows they won't be contenders. They're just trying to show Westbrook they are actively trying to get good players around him. They are running business the wrong way. They lost Harden, they let KD walk away for nothing in return, and now they're trying their best to please their lone remaing star.

If they can get the stars to buy in I like that team. I mean, at the end of the day, they are not gonna beat GS, but I think that team has potential to be very good. They will always have a guy on the court that has a good enough iso game to get them big baskets in the clutch. That's huge in the playoffs. And the only weak guy on defense in that starting 5 is Melo. But besides Patrick Patterson the depth on that team is very suspect. They better hope they can pick up a couple of vets at the march 1st deadline once players are released.

OKC will be paying the luxury tax this season. Next year, the tax doubles.
