I think this kind of contract is a huge mistake. It seems that the way to win is to pay the genuine stars what you need to (in other words a boatload of money) and fill out the roster with rookie contracts and vet minimums. It seems this is the way Danny is headed. By this time next year we'll have Horford, Hayward, IT on max deals, Brown, Tatum, the Nets' pick, possibly the Laker's pick on rookie deals, forming the core of the roster. Zizic, Yabu, Semi will add a few more rookie contracts to the mix. That's 10. If Rozier is around that's another rookie deal. That's 11. Second round picks and vet minimums will fill out the rest. Crowder, if he's still here, won't cost much. Smart will be the only real decision next Summer as far as money goes. Paying mediocre players $18 million per year is a recipe for failure. I wonder if they saw something in his game.. After all he was overshadowed by Dwight, Millsap, Schroeder etc. Perhaps they figure that he actually had all the makings of a star. That said, I bet they could have had him for less than $71m

Cavs going to find out Jeff Green is a poodle. I can see Lebron yelling at Green

Cavs are signing all these vet players...half of them are going to break down throughout the season and Lebron will once again need to play 40+ minutes to carry them. Such a badly constructed team.

At this point pretty much all the cap money out there has been spent. I'm hoping that means we can get someone decent on a minor contract. Like Ersan Ilaysova or Alex Len or Mirotic or Mason Plumlee or JayMichael Green. At least those teams will be forced to match. Their teams might not even match. Like the Grizz might decide to tank with their recent 2nd rounders Ivan Rabb and Deyonta Davis. Pau Gasol is unrestricted. Dedmon is unrestricted. I think you could point out to them a ton of bottom of the barrel Celtics have made a ton of money and will make more. KO and Avery. Evan Turner got a huge deal last year. Bigger than KOs. It will be interesting to see what happens to Gerald Green. Tyler Zeller made some money recently. Amir Johnson just signed for 11 which is only a million less than he made with us.
Jeff Green just signed a very modest deal to go to the Cavs

Nerlens Noel is a FA too that I would be interested in.

He's restricted. I'd expect Dallas to totally match him. I'm not sure what's taking so long there

I also kinda wonder if Ainge would consider a trade for an underused young guy buried on the depth chart. Just for example Brice Johnson just had a heck of a summer league debut. Hellenson on the Pistons could be a very good KO replacement, but with Morris gone he probably makes the rotation now.

The Detroit Pistons have renounced the FA rights for Aron Baynes. They also pulled the qualifying offer & renounced Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Jamal Crawford is free to help a contender after finalizing his buyout with the [HASH]Hawks

It seems to me we could really use a rebounder/rim protector and a ball handler. It seems doable. The minimum won't get you much of a pg. Maybe Crawford would take it if he's bought out. Hopefully he'd look at it like he got some money so why not.
Rondo is still out there. I cannot imagine him coming here under any scenario. No wait. There's one. Non guaranteed contract contingent on being a perfect citizen. One year. Totally increase his value.

He's restricted. I'd expect Dallas to totally match him. I'm not sure what's taking so long there Hes restricted so he isnt going anywhere. Dallas is waiting for someone to offer him and they can match. That way they'll let the market set his value. Other than that, they know they have him (if noone offers) for the next season at a discount.
