This is my final guess before I turn off the light and go to sleep:
Durant chooses to stay with OKC.
When it all boils down to the one very important decision, I think Durant is too nervous to go anywhere else. He knows OKC, he knows the coach and most of his teammates. Its a big and scary decision, one that can haunt you the rest of your life if it turns out wrong.
Plus, in the back of his mind, he knows we really want him. So if they fail to win next year, that'll be the the clear sign to him that he needs to get out of OKC.
And ironically enough, this scenario works out for us. If no KD, then RJ Hunter, Jaylen Brown and James Young get more run time on the floor. It'll help speed up their development.
Then when KD comes over next summer, the young guys will be better equipped to contribute.

So the first headline I see this morning, on ESPN.com, is "Celtics winners regardless of Kevin Durant sweepstakes results". Of course, I see "Celtics winners" and immediately think "YES!!!". Then I saw the rest of the headline. Oh well. Back to waiting.
I think whoever Durant picks today will be who he'll be with for the next bunch of years. Yes, he'll opt out and renegotiate after one year, but that's purely monetary. He leaves far more money on the table if he leaves OKC after next season than if he leaves now. The more I think about it the more I think we have a legit chance.

Sorry, eja117! Didn't mean it that way.
Apparently Durant is going to announce his decision on the Player's Tribune.
Looking for positive omens? Grousbeck has been talking about "fireworks" for a couple of years. And Durant is set to announce his decision on July 4. Fireworks indeed if it goes our way!

I have a feeling that he stays with OKC. I saw a photo today with KD's jersey hanging on some rubble among the debris of a tornado and the caption said. Don't forget what you mean to the people of Oklahoma City. If that doesn't grab at your heart! I'd be ok with him going back to OKC. I really hope he doesn't go to OKC. I really like the kid and that would change my opinion of him.

Well he bitched out and signed with the Warriors. I lost a ton of respect as he is just a ring chasing 3rd wheel now.

I lost a lot of respect for the kind of person I thought that Durant was. I really thought he'd go back to OKC but to go to one of their biggest rivals... that hurts OKC more than if he went elsewhere. GSW going to be quite the team but I'll never look at KD the same again. Just another ring chaser rather than a humble player wanting to make a difference.

Word is that he will sign a 2 year contract with GSW with the second year player option. Celtics still could get him next off season or maybe not. We may have our own star by then and not need him.

I am of the mind frame that he doesn't deserve to wear the green now. He had his chances and went the easy route. Although they are at 88M and only have 8 guys on the roster and that counts as Bogut not being signed. So they will have to start Iggy with Green at the 5 and the only proven bench player that they have is Livingston. So it will be interesting how they fill out the roster with 3 spots and just over 5M to spend on those spots.
