Bottle line, though, is KD will go to the team he feels has a chance to win a title.
Does he feel he can win a title with us, even with the inclusion of Horford? Do we have enough firepower and defense to overcome the Warriors? Do we have what it takes to take down the Cavs?
I wonder what Ainge has up his sleeve to further bolster the team?

from what I see, its an easier road to the finals in the east which means more rest than your opponent if you get to the finals if you get a few easy sweeps in the first few rounds.

I'm just sitting here like "Can't sleep. Might get Durant. Still can't sleep. Internet owns me. Can't sleep."

The Celtics would be a team with 3 all stars and three guys that are at or nearly at all nba defensive level. It would be a team with three all stars adding 4 top 6 picks in a row in addition to many other draft picks.
There's never been a team like that.
If he wants to join the Warriors they need to move guys like Barnes, Bogut, and Iguodala.
The Celtics beat the Warriors without Horford. OKC had them on the ropes and they aren't as good as us.

I think he'll realize that if he joins the warriors he'll forever be alpha no.3. He won't be the alpha dog there because curry is. Therefore he'll be sharing the 2nd banana spot with klay or draymond. There just isn't enough possessions to go around which means his stats will drop, effectively taking away his quest to break nba records in favour of championships. Is that a sacrifice worth making? Thats for him to decide but I guarantee there is just no way he'll ever average anywhere close to his PPG again with the warriors. And lets not forget that Curry is still on a cheap deal...that means when his resigning comes around at 30mil a year or more, they will have zero depth to handle any injuries.

Curry could potentially even leave the Warriors. Iguodala and Bogut are on the last years of their deals. Ezeli is about to get a huge raise. H Barnes is gonna leave.
If he goes back to OKC nothing changes. If he goes to the Warriors he's Pippen. If he comes to the Celts he's KG. I am going to be very curious how this goes down.

I get the part about maybe Durant goes to the Warriors to get a ring, but I don't think he wants a hollow ring.

Also....if he goes to the Warriors...and they lose....he goes down as a pretty huge chump forever. And if Curry then left...then he's an even huger chump. And in three years one team gunning for him is us. We'll be bringing Horford, IT and all our draft picks with us.

Not only that but if he goes to GSW, Barnes will be gone and they will also have to trade either Iggy or Bogut. Which means it will likely have to be Iggy since Bogut is the only decent big guy that they have. So if you get rid of Iggy, then Klay is the only guy who is above average defender on the perimeter. I just don't see that team winning the title after having to cut everyone just to afford KD.

Steph Curry is on the last year of his deal and they have to get rid of guys in order to bring in Durant.
Lebron is 31 (compared to Durant's 27).
The Celtics have their guys wrapped up longer and have just drafted 3rd and most likely have two more top 4 picks coming to them the next two years along with multiple other picks and Euro stashes....which is largely how the Spurs built their dynasty. They were able to build it nicely with Duncan, but then they were able to keep things going drafting people like Scola and Tiago Splitter and they still have more stashes like Davis Bretans.
Even if he doesn't really beat Lebron...he sorta inherits Lebron's spot in two to three years. Meanwhile even if things went well initially in Golden State...forgiving the part where he's no longer alpha dog...there are still some up and coming players and teams in the West like the T Wolves and Pelicans.
OKC...Two rings? One would be pretty tough. They arguably improved this year...arguably. But Westbrook is in his final year and how do they improve from here?
The majority of our team is set to improve just by experience. Our team arguably just moved to [HASH]2 in the East....and for the next 3-5 years is set to improve.
If he wants one ring as a beta dog he goes to the Warriors. If he wants a good chance at one ring he might stay in OKC.
If he wants a chance at a dynasty as an alpha dog he comes to us.
Not sure if that's where his math is but my math is correct. Modify message

OK, so I'm the one who voted no, but I'm starting to rethink this. It's widely assumed that whoever KD signs with, it'll have a player opt-out after one year, which will allow him to negotiate an even bigger deal next summer when the cap goes up even higher. But one thing stays the same: whoever he's with next season will be able to pay him more money and for more years than anyone else for years 2017-2018 and so on, and it ain't a small difference. So if he's thinking he might want to change teams, this is the time to do it. He'll lose some money this next season, but nothing like he'd be giving up if he stays with OKC one more year and then leaves.
If he believes Westbrook is gone after next year, KD's chances of winning in OKC without another star, and likely without any high draft choices, are looking slim. Maybe this is the time to make a move.
As far as where to, most really competitive guys want to create their own legacy. How satisfying really would joining GS and winning a title be? He's on record that enjoying the people he's surrounded by is important to him, and GS seems like a great place to play in that sense, but so is Boston, and here he'd have a chance to build, not just join, something great. I've never been optimistic about this, but I'm starting to allow myself to believe we have a chance at him.

I may be wrong but from all I have read about KD, he isn't going to put money or just tagging along to get a ring as his first priority in his decision. He wants to have fun playing and he wants to play good team basketball. I could see him signing a 1+1 deal with Thunder so as to play another year with Westbrook and then make the decision to move on if Westbrook leaves next offseason. I've read that he's seriously thinking of going to Golden State but I don't think so. I may be wrong but that doesn't seem to be the best fit for him as he becomes 3rd banana right away and he'll always have that "ring chaser" tag on him. I really think the Celtics are the best fit for him but then I'm not making the decision and I may have him pegged all wrong. All I know is that this waiting is killing me.
He either needs to join the Celtics or be beaten by them in the future... His choice.
