Its gotta be between us and the Warriors. And Durant is said to be aware of sports history, so he must know the great sports tradition in Boston, home of the loyalist sports fans around. There are no more passionate fans as Patriot fans, Red Sox fans, Bruins fans and Celtics fans.
If he comes here, not only will he be adored by C's fans, but the entire city will embrace him as one of their own.
Plus, all the greats from the past, including his favorite, Larry Bird.
And then he has fellow basketball players telling him what a great place this is (Perk, IT).
Then there's Al Horford.
There's just so many more reasons why Boston is his likely choice over the Warriors.
But the Warriors won a title 2 years ago, and was on the verge of winning it last year. They have this over us.

Reports on Twitter are that it is between GSW and the Thunder. But then again about 20 minutes before Horford announced that he was going to Boston, reports on Twitter was that Celtics had all but given up and that he was going back to Atlanta. So nothing is set until Durant makes his announcement, Which they say will come tomorrow.

Oh, that would be such a devastating blow if Durant doesn't come here.
I guess because of his personality and the way he is, he just seems to "fit" with us, you know.
If he goes back to OKC, I'd feel like we wasted a lot of our time and efforts, including Brady's time.
If he goes to GS, I'd lose some respect for him because he'll be taking the easy road to a championship.

The funny thing is that they wouldn't have a team left to compete for a championship if GSW signed him. Barnes/Iggy/Ezili would all be gone. They would have a "big 4" and Bogut but no bench what so ever other than Livingston. That team would be gassed by the time the playoffs started and I don't see them coming out of the West with no depth, as that was their strength over the past two years.

Yeah, part of the reason for GSW's success was their deep and effective bench.
Also, the chemistry that team had from players 1 - 12 was really great.
If they lose key contributors from their bench, they could lose team chemistry, unity, identity, and effectiveness.
Their starting 5 could still take them a long ways, but you'd have to think about how they'd do in the playoffs.

It would be like the Clippers were two years ago when they blew a 3-1 series lead to the Rockets in the second round. Crawford was their only decent bench player and they wore out. I see the same happening with GSW if they gut the team for KD.

I'll be very surprised if he goes to the Warriors. I think the Warriors talk is like leverage to OKC, where if he goes back to OKC it's one and one so after one he still has all the leverage to leave if he thinks they haven't done enough.
I think it's between whether he thinks OKC is doing enough and has done enough to go forward.
He knows the Celtics are in better shape long term.
I think he either goes to the Celts or gives us one more year to grow and watches us while trying to win in OKC one more time. If he doesn't win there (and I don't think he will) then he'll have to do this again. He knows Steph was banged up. He knows Draymond Green was suspended. He knows the Warriors came all the way back on him.
Oladipo is a good defender. That is definitely a sign OKC is trying to counter Steph and Klay for him.
I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to get the best of both worlds. Where he thinks "Wellll THIS year OKC is more likely to win so I'll sign a one and one. And if we win good and if we lose I can leave and go to the team with the better long term future or I could just do it anyway." It could bite him.

C'mon Durant. Come here and you can still be a high scorer, be an alpha dog, win MVP's and compete for titles.
Go to GSW and you'll just be a ring chaser. No MVP's (not even the MVP on your own team), not an alpha player, reduced scoring average and role.
Is that the legacy you're looking for, Kevin?
Come to Boston and you'll be loved and idolized forever (just ask your idol, Larry Bird).

I just read that he had narrowed it to GSW and OKC and then when Horford agreed to sign with the Celtics he seriously considered the Celtics once again. I agree with all you said above Derren. He will be just another player in GSW in Boston he will be a legend.
But he's much loved in OKC. And their fans may even be more loyal and loud than the Celtics fans. If he goes back to OKC, I'd understand.
It's amazing to be one of the final 3 teams in his decision making process. Who would have thought we'd even be in the conversation 3 years ago.

I think the part where it has taken us all the way till Monday means he's thinking hard about it. It was no slam dunk. I think it's down to us and OKC. He's gonna have a hard time with this. Psychologically if he were gonna stay you'd think he would have announced it by now. It reminds me of when his rival waited till practically the last minute before leaving.

Well, of the teams he's weighing, we are the one who needs him the most. If Durant really wants to leave his mark on a championship team, or even a dynasty, Boston is the place to do it. And like FL said, you win a championship in Boston, you become a legend. I mean, look at how much Leon Powe is still remembered and loved, even to this day!!
Yeah, I ultimately now think it comes down to us and OKC. I no longer think GSW is in the picture.

Anyone know what time Durant is going to be making his decision by?

Best thing about living on the other side of the world is that I don't have to wait in anticipation. The decision will likely happen whilst im asleep and I'll either wake up happy or go to work pissed haha.

By the way, JR, I know you were high on Steven Adams in that draft a few years ago. Looks like he turned out ok.

How much do you all trust in what Blakely says?
From his sources, he said our presentation impressed Durant so much that he is not only considering for nex summer's free agency, but even as a destination this year!
Is Blakely a reliable source?
If this is true, I'll tell you what I think this means. I think Durant was set on going back to OKC this year, and choose Boston next year. But now he's reconsidering us for this year!!!!!
I think he would have already made his choice if he was going to stay with OKC.
