**BTW, check out BCHistorian's News section for all of the days top Celtics news**
Apparently, Will Bynum has signed a 2 year contract with us yesterday, according to the Herald. He was previously given a short contract that would have kept him in our hands throughout the preseason. But Ainge likes his game enough that he gave Bynum, an undrafted rookie, a 2 year contract (only 1 year is guaranteed).
And there's also a big possibility that Dickau could be wearing green next year too. Sources say that Ainge is near an agreement that will bring him into Boston.
Ok, there's so much to stipulate right now. We could have 5 young PG's on the roster this season--none of whom can be considered a "vet". Only Dickau has had significant playing time, and that came last year after he was traded to New Orleans. Orien Greene, also a player Ainge is intrigued with, is also in the mix for our future PG spot. Then now we have Will Bynum, who I doubt will compete for the starting spot, but has enough heart, gritty-ness, and game to play for a backup spot in the future.
Its going to be tough hanging onto all 5 PG's. There's the NBDL we can utilize, but that's not the long term solution. Eventually, Ainge is going to have to decide on who to keep and who to let go.
I think Will Bynum directly affects Banks future with us. If Bynum can immediately show that he has the goods to be a contributor off the bench, Banks goes. It may not be immediately cause Bynum can still work on his game in the minors while Banks tries to keep his chances alive. But from what I've seen of Bynum at G-Tech, he's as intense a player as they come. He's got fire in his eyes and belly, and he plays aggressively (but smart). Banks needs to come to camp as an improved player, to give him some breathing room.
If Dickau is signed, it'll be interesting to see if Delonte can beat him out for the starting spot. Dickau is a faster player and has range on his jumper too. I honestly don't have a good grasp of Dickau's game, but I don't believe he's that much better than Delonte is right now.
