We don't even know the details to the Dickau trade yet...We might want to see what comes of it before we set the roster.

I don't. If Ainge could do the '03 draft over again and redo the selection based on what he knows now, I can almost guarantee he would not draft Banks, seeing how Luke Ridnour was the very next pick. Banks is not the shooter Ainge likes (sort of the gripe he had against Payton), nor does he show consistent passing ability. Lot of good players dropped out of the draft this year. I mean, when a guy of Ryan Gomes' caliber drops to the 50th pick, you know that something is grossly wrong (but it worked in our favor). Banks has a lot more athletic abilities than Bynum does, but Bynum could make himself more valuable by being a more productive bench player. Ridnour was not available when Memphis drafted for them though. I thought Luke was 12th and Banks was 13th? No? And with late 2nd round picks who dropped, something has to be wrong most of the time indeed. That we will find out about Gomes when he plays more. But those few manage to come out like Ginobili but then again, nobody knew about him. NCAA guys who drop that far usually will suck for the long haul. In Oriens case, I have no idea how a pg like him could go 53rd. He was in the NCAA but then again, maybe he was just an unknown.

If I remember correctly, after the '03 draft, Ainge said that a lot of people were persuading him to grab Banks. I believe Chris Wallace and Ainge's own son were really high on his abilities. I don't know if Ainge himself really got a good look at him with his own eyes. But since that was his first draft, and because he wanted to hit a homerun with his pick, he went after the most athletic PG who had dazzling speed.

Yea, Ainge had to be persuaded to get Banks. He just doesn't seem high on him. Now that explains why. And Seattle must have had 2 picks 12 and 14 because I know for sure they picked Collison.

Yea that pretty much settles it. That really sucks. Ridnour is damn good compared to Banks.

My goodness, how incredible would it have been if Hinrich were a Celtic? That would have made me a very happy camper.
If Ainge could do the draft over again, I'm certain he'd pick Ridnour over Banks.

Absolutely positively. Marcus Banks is not that much better a pick than Troy Bell when you think about it. Only difference is, Bell is waived and not wanted.

I don't see the comparision to one of the fastest guards in the league who may start this year and still has potential and a guy out of the league. It's like comparing maybe Ryan Leaf and a good backup QB.

Gotta agree with eja. Still rather have Banks any day than have Troy Bell. You guys are being harsh with Marcus Banks.
I still predict he will have a Bobby Jackson-like career and play for a team and give them a real spark with offense off the bench, good for 15pts and 4 assists someday. He still has time to improve.
Just don't think that team will be the Celtics.
