This is why I am not opposed to getting rid of Paul Pierce. Pierce is still our best player at that position. Allen will never be that good & Green is still years away. Unlike Walker with Al, Pierce is not going to loose his starting position to any of the young guns in the next 2 years. I beg to differ with OSSric and agree with the Tony Allen supporters. I think Tony Allen is the SG who will emerge to stardom and replace Pierce.

I wouldn't go that far Q. But I am very excited for Tony Allen. He's an exciting player when he's able to roam free. He's creative and will fit in with a free flowing offense.

Tony Allen is a great defensive body and has a great knack of getting to the hoop...but the same can be said about Banks, who isn't nearly as popular in Boston as TA. The thing about Allen is he needs a LOT of work on his offensive game to be what he can be. People have him being the next Pierce after Pierce is gone, but what they don't realize is just how amazing Pierce's offensive repetoire is. We have been spoiled for quite a few years watching this guy do it all on offense(and defense, at least rebounds and steals). TA is nowhere close to PP.
As for Blonut, if someone could just take the bricks off of his feet, he could be pretty damn good. I just wish he didn't look so dopey all the time.

The difference is that Banks plays a much more demanding position which requires him to be able to pass the ball as well as score. Ironically, I think Allen shows more playmaking ability than Banks. I may get stoned for saying this, but I think you guys will start to see this. And Allen also shows much more anticipation and a higher sense of basketball smarts than Banks.
But I'm beginning to like Banks for his ability to be our defensive disruptor and offensive sparkplug. Even if Orien eventually beats Banks out, Marcus may still have a future with the team by being able to play suffocating defense.

Pierce gets to the line (and makes them), he is solid at rebounding (TA might be) and he passes well (when he's not in one-on-one win the game mode). I just don't like his past attitude flashes. I give him until February. From there only he and management know. Same for MBlount... Attitude...

Allen I wouldn't say is much more talented than Banks but maybe a tad more. He still has a lot to work on much like Banks. The only difference is, he won't be dealt and brought back like Banks was.

Actually, seeing how the stars correctly align themselves whenever Ainge does anything, maybe Banks being dealt back to us was meant to be. We seem to be destined for something good, and maybe Banks still being here is meant to be. That's a spin on how to look at his situation after being dealt and then being refunded back to us.

I watch the Indiana series over and over and its easy to see why so many fans are enamored with Banks. He's oozing with athleticism, he's quick, he's an aggressive defender, and his jump shot seemed to be better. Plus, he and the second unit took the game to another level with their energy.

The reason why people say Banks is most likely gone is because he was a 13th pick and is taking slower to grasp things but his defense does show in very good spurts.

An attemped trade comes to mind too. Was that a play by DA? I don't think so. He'll be gone. I bet he hangs around the NBA for many years though.

Banks? If Danny trades him, expect him to do better on another team much like other celtics that past management/gm's dealt away.

Banks has a lot of physical tools. But for a PG, that's not nearly enough (unless being a 3rd string PG is what a player is striving to be). That's why Delonte has moved pass Banks, despite being a much lesser athlete. And its not like Delonte is an amazing PG, either. But he's got a better feel for moving the ball around the court and he's got a better jump shot.
