Thanks Meltin. ;D It's not like the NBA doesn't pay their wage. Maybe it's their turn.

I have to agree with Derren. In this world of Lewinsky/Deep Throat paparazzi investigative journalism and anonymous sources not a lot of secrets get kept that long.

Our luck to get the #1 pick by lottery fallings is not good. The league and Stern hates the celtics. When Boston last won #1 (1980), Stern wasn't even in office. Since he was, they haven't won it at all.

Gee, we just need to get a player like this:
1. Greg Oden 7-0 240 C Lawrence North (Indianapolis, IN) *Ohio St. (2006)
Greg Oden Has improved dramatically in the past year. At last year's Big Time Tournament he was a dominant player, but he has taken that dominance to a new level. Even since the time Oden appeared on ESPN2 in mid December of last year's high school season, he his vastly improved. His assertiveness and confidence have increased, and it is showing in his game. He has gotten a lot stronger and has become extremely adept at getting around players with his footwork to set up dunks. He also now knows how to lean into players, creating space, and then dunking over them. Defensively he is a terrific shot blocker, alters numerous shots, and has the potential to become a dominant NBA defensive player. With strength, has come adding explosiveness.
His body is still very lean, but his body strength has become extremely impressive, and he's just 17! His growth is on an incredible upswing, with strength being the catalyst in his overall development. Greg Oden is becoming scary good. And many feel Ohio State will be a favorite to reach the Final Four in his (likely) one season in Buckeye country. Oden is a lock for the #1 pick any time he declares for the draft. And it's not even close. He has a chance to become the top center in the league someday. By that time Shaq will have retired. He's that good
How in the world are we going to pull this off? Who do we need to dangle to get us Greg Oden?

This will be a chance extremely similar to when our team had Mchale, Bird, Lewis, Dee Brown and Parish and our gm coulda made a move to acquire the #1 pick in 1992 by trading with the magic or hornets. Those chances are slim. I doubt any team woulda taken any of those guys at their ages for a chance at Shaq or Mourning.

Getting a potentially dominant Center will be the final piece to tip the scale in our favor. A dominant Center (Oden), an offensive stud PF (Jefferson), and a super athletic wing scorer (Gerald Green) makes my mouth water.
Add Tony Allen to those 3 and you have a guy who loves to follow misses and throw down dunks, slash to the basket, and even do a bit of one on one scoring if need be.
Let Delonte and Orien fight for the PG spot, and whoever wins will be the PG for our future dynasty.
To get him, we'll most likely need to include Pierce and take back a bad contract.

What if there is no dynasty though? What if our team becomes like the blazers?

Yeah, I guess there's that possibility. It appears that the Eastern conference is starting to rise back to power. With Miami, Detroit, Indiana, and even teams like Chicago and Washington, making headway over the previous years, the East looks a lot tougher now than 2 years ago.
Just like how the Knicks and Pacers couldn't get to the Finals because Jordan's Bulls would always beat them in the ECF, similar circumstances could happen to us if we can't beat out our Eastern counterparts.
But if we get Oden, and our top players develop into the impact players they can be (Jefferson, Green), we should be the best team out there, especially with the depth we'll have on the roster.
