If Ainge is destined to bring championship banners to Boston, we will miraculously get Greg Oden in '07. He graduates this coming year, but cannot enter the NBA until he is a year removed from high school, according to the new CBA rules.

Here's a snipit of his scouting report from Aran Smith (NBADraft.net)

NBA Comparison: David Robinson

Strenths: Incredibly fluid athlete for a 7 footer... Tremendous speed in the open court ... A center with his agility and talent comes along roughly every 10-15 years ... Extremely quick and explosive ... Enormous potential ... His game has improved significantly from his sophomore to junior seasons ... Starting to understand how to use his body and how dominant he can be ... Big defensive presence, and a terrific shot blocker with great length, timing and instincts ... Excellent rebounder ... Soft touch around the basket ... Has developed a decent turnaround hook with his right hand ... Very good passer with nice court vision (averaged 3.7 assists per game as a junior) ... Quality kid with a great attitude ... Very coachable, listens and wants to improve ... Team player with a winners mentality ... Improving on a daily basis ... Decent free throw shooter at 64% but needs to and should improve upon it (improved considerably from 51% as a sophomore) ...

Weaknesses: Soft spoken. Very humble personality, which is a positive and a negative in that some would like to see him develop more of a swagger of confidence, but Duncan and Robinson were/are both silent (humble) assassins ... Needs to add more nastiness on the floor to dominate ... Still raw in terms of post moves, they are developing, but still have a ways to go ... He is so dominant on the high school level he hasn't needed to develop any range or post skills ... Doesn't have the ability to create offense for himself as he can overwhelm anyone he faces with his size and athleticism ... Still scores mostly on ally oops and put backs ... Has nice touch, but needs to develop a consistent mid range shot (ala Robinson) ... Strength wont be an issue for him ultimately, but right now he needs to add muscle to his upper body and legs ... Almost too unselfish ...

Outlook: The top candidate for the number 1 pick in the 2007 draft, one year removed from high school ... A year of college should give him a great stepping stone for the NBA.

We have an unprotected first round pick in '07, courtesy of the Lakers. If miracles happen, this is the one that will give us a dynasty.

Heck, its a slow summer. Why not start dreaming up miracles ;D

Not sure if the Cavs' pick is this year or in '07. I do believe its unprotected, being that they envision themselves to be playoff contenders in '07 and not lottery participants.

Like I said, its going to take a miracle for this to happen. But so far, Ainge has been making incredible luck happen in Boston with his drafts. This one may top them all if we're given the top overall pick in '07.

He really deserves to get some recognition for Exec of the Year. I guess it'll come when we start getting past the first round of the playoffs. But that's perfectly fine if he doesn't win anything because the Celtics fans give full credit to him for all that's he's done so far.

the only way to get oden seems to be gathering as many first round picks as possible for 2007 and then try to trade them to the team that will have number one pick. even then it's pretty unlikely because teams will be drooling about such a center

Odds of that happening are stacked heavily against us. Unless its meant to happen.

Could you see Al, Perk, (Reed or Gomes), G$ and West? TA @ 6th man, to get a small unit running. Buckets might have shown TA the value of the role.

That is a tough question, and I think both have their pros. A dominant big man can shut down an opponents scoring from the inside as well as keep second chance points to an absolute minimium. But a dominant PG can get the team scoring at a high clip and control the tempo of the game to our advantage.

I'm going to have to sleep on this one.

And, on several occassions, it outplayed the first unit. Though, I really see Big Al starting.

Even when Big Al goes to the starting rotation, our second unit remains potentially strong. Ricky can make it better by making slight adjustments to his game (by using screens more and getting off his quick pull up jumper, and dribbling the ball less) and it appears that Justin Reed and Ryan Gomes are going to be productive players off the bench. Banks can still provide the energy and quickness. And with a worker like Scalabrine now added to the mix, we get some toughness there also.
