Do you think Ainge will try to
A. get more physical inside and add another big man? Another shot blocker? Frye, Bynum, Villanueva, May, Simien, Turiaf etc.....
B. Get another pg to throw in the mix? Jack, Ellis, come to mind..
C. Get a shooter? Vasquez, McCants, Stoudamire, Ellis etc...
D. Add a big 3 like Doc has asked for in the past? Graham, Warrick, Gomes come to mind...
E. Take the best player available and even trade up to do it? Granger, Webster, come to mind.

ALso Rudy Fernandez has a nice writeup on NBAdraft.net. I know nothing about him except what I just read though...

I know its a cliche and I hate to use it so vaguely, but he'll pick the best player available. I believe that Ainge and his team of scouts and advisors (from Rivers to Wallace, to Papile, etc.) puts a list together of players in the order of their values. And they just cross the names of players out as they are taken. Whoever is next on their list when the 18th rolls around will be the one he will pick. I think this is how they did it last year, if I remember correctly.
I'd like to get more size and talent up front, but if there are no big men with more potential than Perkins at 18, I'd look at other options.

Im not so sure about that Derren. I think Ainge targets certain players each year. He wanted Banks, he traded up to get him. The story goes he wanted Allen and had him targetted well before the draft. Not sure about Jefferson. Supposedly he wanted Swift and was trying to trade up, but maybe that was a smoke screen and he got te guy he wanted.

Id like to get a shooter. If that shooter is a pg even better. And then come back in the second round and add some size. I think we need to get more physical inside and we need a shotblocker...... Perk and Jefferson should be much improved but Blount was so soft... We need to try to replace him imo... But yeah best player available sounds good. If we sign Sarunas that makes drafting te best player available that much easier.

If you want shooters, then Garcia and Webster are two guys to target. Maybe Monta Ellis, but I'm not too familiar with his game. Nemanja Alexandrov is also a good shooter from what is written about him.
I like a backcourt of Garcia and Delonte. Smart players who shooot, pass, and play hard.

the best players at 18 could be jarret jack, francisco garcia or martell webster. i agree - we need outside shooters, but we also need help in frontcourt

I'd like for the C's to nab Wayne Simien, but I don't think they should use the 18 for him. Maybe package one of our second rounders plus a garbage player to get the 22nd pick so we can bring in Simien?

I think the Celtics will go with the everpopular "best available". I also don't agree that the Celtics will not draft a high school player just because they are too young. If all of the seasoned college players that Ainge likes are off the board by the time that we pick, Ainge will go with the player who will "have the best chance of helping the Celtics put up another banner" regardless of age. Whether that be Monta Ellis, Andrew Bynum, Andre Blatchay, who knows?
One thing is for sure, if Ainge sees someone that he likes or has his eye on someone, he will do what he can to get that player. If he thinks that one of the high school players is the best selection at that point he may go that direction if all of the good college/international players are off the board at that time.
Having said that, I feel that we will probably pick a college/international player who has potential who may drop to us. I say either a point guard, small forward, or center. Unless the prospect can't be passed up, I really don't see us selecting a power forward or shooting guard.

I am thinking the 4-year college players, like Granger and Simien will be long gone before we draft. I am thinking Ainge will take Webster, Blatchly, Bynum or even Ellis.

Martell Webster would be a nice pickup, especially if Pierce isn't in the long term plans. But he's up in the air right now because most indications say that he'll be gone before 18.
I'm a fan of Wayne Simien. Just a solid PF all around. Awesome touch around the basket and even more range on his shot than Blount. He's quick and nimble on his feet, but still strong enough to bump with the big boys. And his head seems to be in the game for the most part.
Esco is right--Ainge will not hesitate to take a high schooler if he likes him. I just hope its not Andrew Bynum.
I would really like to have Felton on the team, but unless he falls or Ainge moves up in the draft, we probably won't see Felton playing in Boston.

Simien is projected to go mid first round. I wouldn't trade for a 22 pick to even get him. I'd use it on someone else like that dude there Katalynas?
