W/ the exception of a few foreign players, like Dirk Nowitski, Tony Parker, Gniobli (spelling?), everytime I think of one, the clip of Vince Carter dunking over, and on Frederic Weis, who was a 1rst round pick by the Knicks, comes into mind. ;D

To Danny's credit, though, I doubt he drafts a guy like Fred Weiss.
So BC, you think Samardziski is worth taking with our first pick in the first round, whether it'd be ours or the Lakers'? That pick could be in the 15 - 20 range.
Starters:
C- Perkins PF- Jefferson
Backups:
C- Samardziski PF- Raef
Blount
Or do you think Samardziski will likely be available in the low 20's? I mean, if we have the opportunity to grab a guy like Felton in the 15 - 20, I'd go for him first and hope to grab Samardziski with the next pick.

i think personally samardziski is worth late first rounder, early second rounder. so our first pick or all our picks this year for that matter should go to get felton.

My thinking right now is that Danny will draft a PG w/ the first pick in round 1, and will move up if he has to. He realizes Payton is either gone, or only has a few years left in the league, Lefty is unproven, and Banks is a project.
After watching Felton play against UCONN, he showed he could run an NBA team.
Though, I really like Jawad Williams and would consider the other 1rst round pick as well. Has a nice all around game.

Derren I was only kidding about foreign players, and Carter's dunk. I saw a picture of it recently, and just reminded me of international players.
To Ainge's credit, he does his homework - scouts, and doesn't show his hand.

Yeah, I'm thinking Ainge is going to look for a PG in this draft--with or without Payton being moved at the trading deadline. Banks is soon going to be out of Boston. I just have that feeling. Felton is the guy a lot of us want and hopefully, Ainge he's him the way we do.
As far as Jawad Williams, he is a good looking prospect because of the wide range of skills he has. He's not extremely skilled in any specific area, but he can do a bit of everything. He's going to be a second rounder, though.
BC, you think Peja Samardziski is going to last that long (late first round/early second)?

Subject jump--- All I want are guys that play great and don't talk in tongues when they speak... Too much to ask?

Dallas paper has mentioned in a couple of stories recently a kid named Gerald Green, a senior at Houston Gulf Shore Academy (best I can tell, it is something of a copy of Mouth of Wilson's Oak Hill without that much academic emphasis. Says he is the top HS prospect in the nation, according to some, and a potential lottery pick. He says he is going to Oklahoma State.

He's said to be somewhat in the Tracy McGrady mode, right?

you know what i pondered the other day - i thought that danny may draft gerald green if he is as good as they say. that's for several reasons: danny has been successsful with high-schoolers; green is a tall sf; any sf we draft will probably have to play behind pierce for some years anyway and getting a young prospect with (possibly) higher ceiling would be good thing chemistry-wise.

Ainge has gone after a high schooler in both drafts he was in charge of. I would not be surprised if he makes it 3 straight if he finds someone worthy enough to pick.
Last year, we heard that he was interested in 5 high schoolers: Jefferson, Robert Swift, Shaun Livingston, Sebastian Telfair, and Dorrel Wright.
He could be interested in a few this year. Ainge is not afraid to take chances on projects.

If Ainge is going to take a project, I would put Charlie V in this category. An extremely talented player, who is just beginning to figure out his potential. Tonight, he led UCONN w/ 25 pts (career high) against ND, which was his 4th 20+pt game out of 5.

Last year was a disappointment for those hoping for Villanueva to show us his potential. Seeing how Luol Deng (his high school teammate) was able to make good on his potential and get drafted with the 3rd pick, watching Charlie struggle with his game and look so under developed was disappointing.
But this year, he has really stepped out of his shy self and has begun to blossom into a special talent. He transformed himself from the perimeter shooting stick man he was last year to a player who likes to tangle it up inside of 7 feet and score off of putbacks and dump off passes inside.
He was only able to pull down 4 boards tonight, but he is a solid rebounder. With his height, long arms, and long wing span, he's able to reach rebounds at the apex before other players can even attempt to take a stab at it.
