Last Meeting The Celtics last meeting with the Cavs was on 1/3 and the Cavs won 107-104. The Celtics started West, Allen, Gomes, Wally and Al. Tony was the Celtics high scorer with 22. Al added 18 points and 12 rebounds. Green came off the bench for 21 points. James scored 32 points and Ilguaskas had 27 points and 11 rebounds. The Cavs have won 7 in a row over Boston. James is not playing tonight due to general body soreness. I guess they feel that they can beat us without their star since we don't have ours. Picking up the action with 11:05 left in the first and score tied at 0. Gooden knocks the ball away from Al out of bounds. Celtics inbound with13 on the SC. Perk hits a jumper in the lane. Rondo slapped the ball away from Hughes. Cavs inbound and miss a long jumper. Perk rebounds on the baseline. Al goes up over Gooden and hits a jumper in the lane and draws the foul. He hits the FT. Sasha misses the FT and Green rebounds. Perk backs into the lane and lays it down to Gomes for a layup. Sasha has his layup blocked. Perk has a shot blocked by Z and Cavs come away with it. Cavs miss a jumper and rebound goes out off Gooden out of bounds. Gomes misses a jumper from the wing. Perk keeps the rebound alive to Al who dunks it. Time out with Celtics up 9-0 and 8:40 left in the first.

Cavs inbound on the side. Z gets into the lane and dunks it one handed. (Z is Ilgauskas - Sasha is Pavlovic). Celtics miss and Cavs rebound. Rondo with a steal. Sasha blocks Rondo's layup. Cavs come away with it. Gooden misses and Rondo rebounds. Celtics miss and Cavs rebound. Gooden with a layup. Green hits a baseline jumper over Hughes. Hughes loses it in the lane and ball goes off Boston out of bounds. Cavs inbound with 17 on the SC. Perk called for a foul as Z drives into the lane. Cavs inbound on the side. Hughes misses a 3 and Perk rebounds. Green forces a runner in the lane and ball goes out off Cavs. Celtics inbound on the baseline with 15 on the SC. Green has his pass picked off by Snow. Foul called on Gomes. Cavs inbound on the side. Hughes is hit by Rondo in the lane and will go to the line. He hits the first and misses the second and Celts rebound. Gomes hits a jumper. Z is called for a foul setting a screen. Al makes a strong move on the baseline and lays it in. Z gets free under the basket and lays it in. Green misses a runner in the lane. Snow comes away with it. Z scores in the lane. Cavs have gone to a zone. Perk hits a hook shot on the baseline. Hughes misses and Celtics rebound. Green misses a jumper and Sasha rebounds. Z saves the ball inbounds and Celtics come away with it. Gomes hits a jumper. Hughes misses and Rondo comes away with it. Gomes gets to the hoop for a layup. So the Celtics are establishing themselves at home at least to ring out the year.

I didn't get a chance to post the starting lineup before the game started. Gomes, Al, Green, Perk and Rondo started. Cavs inbound with 19 on the SC. Cavs miss and Perk rebounds. Rondo is fouled by Goodne as he makes the pass out of the lane. Celtics inbound with 19 on the SC. Cavs steal, Celtics steal, fumble out of bounds off Celtics. Gooden misses and Gomes rebounds Celtics miss and Cavs rebound. Gooden hits a jumper. Gomes hits a jumper from the corner on a great pass from Perk inside. Gooden with a dunk. Green hits a 3 from the corner. Gooden misses and Rondo runs down the rebound. Rondo hits a runner in the lane. Snow hits a jumper at the buzzer. Score at the end of 1 is Boston 28 and Cleveland 16

Q at the qtr - Cleveland understandably had poor energy coming off their win in Chicago from last night. King James must still be napping at the hotel.
Boston plays very well and has staked themselves to a double digit lead. The Celtics need to learn to win against good teams without Pierce, Allen, Scalabrine, and Sczerbiak. Perkins and Jefferson dominated.

West and Powe into the game for the Celtics with Gomes, Ray and Green. Cavs inbound to start the second. foul called on Powe. Hughes hits both FTs. Gomes misses and Snow comes away with the rebound. Snow takes it in for 2. Green hits a jumper after putting a series of fakes on hughes. Hughes misses a jumper and Green rebounds. 3 second violation on the Celtics. Hughes hits a short jumper and is fouled by Gomes, his second. He hits the FT. Green has it stolen. Celtics get it back. West misses a layup and Cavs rebound and get an easy layup on the other end. 24 second violation on the Celtics. Varejao hits a runner in the lane. Time out with Celtics up 30-27 and 9:15 left in the half. Doc needs to keep 2 bigs in. Either Al or Perk should be in with Powe.

The 2nd unit run by West and Ray and Gerald Green is stinking it up and matches up very poorly with Clevelands big bench and predictably our advantage disappeared in three minutes. It gives me reservations about Green and his emergence of a team leader.

Celtics inbound on the side with 17 on the SC. Telfair is in for Green. Powe takes it to the hoop and is fouled by Varejao. He hits both FTs. Offensive foul on Varejao. Gomes misses a jumper from the FT line. Varejao rebounds. Gibson shoots an airball that goes out of bounds to Boston. Gomes misses a baseline jumper. Hughes takes it to the hoop and lays it in and is fouled by Ray. He hits the FT to tie the game at 32. Al is back in for Gomes. Celtics miss and Powe grabs the rebound and slams it home. Marshall misses from the corner. West rebounds. Al gets the ball inside for a layup. Marshall misses a hook shot and West rebounds. Powe takes it hard to the basket and is fouled. He misses the first and hits the second FT. Cavs miss and Ray battles for the rebound but it goes out of bounds to Cavs. Time out with 5:56 left in the half and Celtics up 37-32

Celtics responded when Cleveland tied them up with Powe and Jefferson. Jefferson is shoring up the interior defense. Telfair made a nice little assist to Jefferson.

Starters are on the floor for the Celts. Z is fouled by Al and hits both FTs. Green hits a jumper on the baseline on a pass from Perk. Z hits a hook in the paint. Perk with a nice pass from Perk to Al inside who dunks it and is fouled. He misses the FT and Varejao rebounds. Snow takes it to the hoop for a layup. Gomes draws a foul as he drives to the hoop. He misses the first. He hits the second FT. Varejao gets inside for a dunk. Green hits a jumper from the top of the key off the catch. Sasha gets inside for a layup. Al gets doubled and finds Rondo cutting to the basket. He has it knocked out of bounds. Time out with game tied at 44 and 2:47 left in the half

Al steps through the double team and lays it in and is fouled. He completes the 3 point play. Al is called for his second foul and Hughes will go to the line. He hits both FTs. Green hits a step away jumper on the baseline. Gooden hits a jumper from the top of the key. Al is doubled and hands it off to Gomes who hits a jumper. Perk called for his second foul. Snow hits the first and misses the second. Rondo rebounds. West misses a jumper from the corner and Cavs rebound. Hughes misses a jumper. Tip no good, Second tip no good, Third tip no good. Al finally comes out with the rebound. Rondo's pass goes out of bounds. Snow's heave at the buzzer is no good. Score at the half is Boston 53 and Cleveland 49

Q at the half, the Celtics successfully punished the Cavs inside with Jefferson and Perkins. Then Gomes and Green have scored effectively on the wings.
We need to rely on Cleveland's poor energy to win the game tonight. We just don't have the talent otherwise.

Celtics miss a jumper and Cavs rebound. Hughes front rims a 3 and Perk rebounds. Celtics turn it over. Hughes takes it down the lane for a layup. Green hits a 3 off the catch. Tommy says "Get the ball to Gerald". Gooden misses a hook shot and Perk rebounds. Perk called for a travel as he moves into the paint. Z misses a short jumper. Perk got away with a foul that wasn't called. Al gets the ball inside to Perk who is fouled. Perk hits the first and rims out the second Ft. Cavs rebound the miss. Sasha misses a jumper Gomes gets the rebound. Rondo takes the ball into the paint and has it knocked out of bounds. Celtics inbound with 18 on the SC. Celtics turn it over and Sasha gets to the hoop for an easy layup. Green is fouled and goes to the line. He hits both FTs. Hughes hits a jumper on the baseline. Gomes passes inside to Perk who didn't see it coming and it goes out of bounds. Sasha misses a layup. Al with the rebound. Gomes hits a jumper. Time out with Boston up 63-55 and 6:45 left in the 3rd.
