I just started thinking....why did he come here? Well then why would he leave? I'm not as impressed with Brad as I used to be at all and maybe Gordan isn't either. Gordan may even feel like he basically made Brad and that Brad passed him over. Yeah, Brad isn’t the fresh face that everyone’s beaming about anymore. He’s had his fair share of talented teams and hasn’t made it to the Finals yet. He has to take that next step. I think Hayward is too nice, and maybe indecisive. Maybe Brad did yell at him once and it hurt his feelings. I don’t know. Sounds like his wife Robyn isn’t all that thrilled about Boston. Maybe that’s playing into his decision. I could definitely see Robyn not being a fan of their kids growing up in the northeast.

The player that has really lost out and is probably gone is Semi. Drafting Langford and G Will was definitely a shot at him last year and drafting Nesmith is this year, and that's even with Hayward leaving. Even the emergence of Theis' outside shooting hurt him.

It’s to clear more cap space. A writer for DET is saying Ainge is angling for a play for Christian Wood. Ok, let’s play out this scenario. Maybe we don’t get back Myles Turner, but someone else like TJ Warren + TPE, and we then Sign and Trade for Wood? Cause it wouldn’t make sense to bring in both Turner and Wood. Indy would have to offer back more salary than just Turner. my guess is that it would be turner + mcdermott. lamb works too, but he has an extra year's worth of money on his deal. no thanks. just read a tweet that indy is offering Turner and McDermott. Bost wants turner and Olidipo/Warren. If we get Turner/Olidipo I'll do a backflip. Oli is just a rental, but man a guard rotation of Oli/Kemba/Marcus is phenomenal.

I guarantee GH and his agent had a big money offer from Indy before he opted out. GH has now told The C's he wants to go to Indy. This trade will def get done.

Is Olidipo fully recovered from injury? He was on the road to superstardom before. I don't think I saw him play last season.

Seen it at Indiana University, seen it at Orlando, seen it with the Pacers pre-injury. He’s what Anthony Edwards could one day become. But I don’t know, it seems like he’s lost some fire, some edge. If he still has it, or gets it back, then yeah, he’ll be a welcome addition.

If Indy is balking at Turner and VO then I hope Ainge can entice them by sending back draft picks or Semi or Pritchard/Yam or maybe even Romeo. Romeo went to Indiana and could be a good fit.
With Kanter gone we definitely need Turner.
TJ Warren strikes me as a possibly good fit as a backup pf or starting pf, which would shift Tatum to sf, and Jaylen would have to be at sg. Nesmith of the bench.

Ainge put people into Decision Land and it cost him. We also learned a lot from this. One thing we learned is Gordan was angry enough and/or indifferent enough around going to Indy that he didn't even give his old coach the heads up to match. Orrrr....there was no way he was getting that much money from Indy. Also.....Charlotte is an idiot organization that is either highly deluded or is willing to settle for middling low seed playoff situations. Or they were desperate to make a move and provide a bridge to their younger players. Also shows I was wrong about Hayward's value on the open market. Apparently it's still very high. Which is absurd. He's not a 30 mill player and hasn't been in a long time

Credit to Charlotte. They realized to make a splash they had to pay up and they did. A ton of free agents around the league saw what just happened to Boston and it's a problem. That said....they also saw Tatum get paid.

This tells me that Hayward wanted the money — CHA is not sniffing a title, period.
Did Hayward really want to go to IND? Did IND really want him that bad? Then I’m sure something could have been done.
But ultimately, this was about the money. Ainge probably knew it, knew he wasn’t able to pay Gordon what he was looking for, and tried to deal him to IND.
I don’t blame Ainge for not taking what IND was offering him. Maybe the contracts he would get back would prevent him from making future moves he envisions. Maybe those players wouldn’t be good for the team, for the lockerroom.

It's possible but I mostly think the Hornets swept in and either Indy was like "How much?! Ha. No" or GH already knew he couldn't get anything like that in Indy and said "bye"
Apparently GH held all the cards all along and nobody knew.
This is a great example of why the Hornets are a horrible team. They let Kemba go and a year later sign an older and more broken down player to more money.

I'm seeing that the Hornets need help from the Celtics to do this so the Celtics can still get something. The Hornets had about 20mill of space. They are going to waive Nic Batum and stretch out his 27 mill over 3 years, which gets them to about 9. So there's still a million to go.
So they could send something like ...idk...a first rounder or two and Vernon Carey or maybe if Ainge likes some of their younger guys they could save money and we could bring it into our space. They have Malik Monk, Pj Washington, and Miles Bridges.
I'd like PJ, but they'd probably say no. Miles is ok. Miles and a first....I wouldn't cry about that.
