It is reported that we’ve offered Jaylen a 4 year, 80 mil contract extension.
What do you guys think? Good deal, bad deal, just about right?

Yeah, I doubt he accepts that offer, looking to strike big on this contract.
Also, with Tatum and Hayward, and potentially even Langford in a few years, I think Jaylen sees he’ll never get the playing time, shot attempts, and significant role he’s most likely looking for.

I don't see the Celtics offering more than 4 years 80 million in an extension. If he turns this down, they will wait until the offseason when he will be a restricted free agent. If he has a spectacular year, they can match any offer another team makes. If they feel that Romeo can fill his spot, they can let him go to a team that wants to pay him more than the Celtics are willing to pay him. He will have to prove himself this season.

In this NBA he's worth that give or take. He's looking to make more than Terry Rozier at a minimum. He's betting on himself to finally be consistent. That is entirely up to him.

I would say in the end he'll be around $25mil per year based on the market as he's worth more than Terry but, hasn't statistically proven to be in the same ball park as the Ben Simmons/Jamal Murray type contracts. So he'll get closer to the middle of the road type of deal i.e. 4 yrs 100 mill

Unless he makes a huge jump and is consistently very good, trade him. If a guy hasn't figured it out by the end of his fourth year, my money says he never will. Do not spend us into cap hell for mediocre players.

One big difference I’ve noticed about Jaylen this summer is he’s moving quicker. His feet are spread apart more, he’s more consistently in the athletic posture ready to pounce in either direction — just showing more eagerness to attack. And I don’t only mean when he’s got the ball in his hands. Moving without the ball, watching the ball move around the floor, Jaylen’s mentality just seems more ready to burst and go.
I remember he said growing up, his mom nicknamed him ‘old man’ cause he moved slowly like an old man. That old man is gone.
Jaylen is going to be the 4th banana this year, which is where I envision he belongs on a contending team (maybe 5th banana). Is that player worth 25+ million?

I'm not convinced that Jaylen understands where his offense needs to come from. I don't think he'll ever be a guy who can take his man off an isolation. He just doesn't handle the ball well enough (and I've never, in over 50 years of watching the NBA, seen a guy go from poor to above average at this skill), nor does he see the court well enough. His game should be running the floor, spot-up 3's, one dribble drives and post-ups. If he sticks to what he's good at he'd be much better. There's nothing wrong with recognizing that something will never be your strength.

He’s barely got more than meat-n-potato moves, which is a straight line attack to the basket. But this is where he has improved. His 3 pt shot has been good also. Kinda turning into our version of Andre Iguodala.

Jaylen Brown is set to turn 23 in less than a week — he’s got time to work on his game more and become a better player.
Thinking down the road, when we move beyond Kemba and Hayward, and thrn the reins over to Tatum, will Jaylen be good enough to be one of the main pieces — a legit #3?

The Pacers are having the same issue with Domantas Sabonis. That could be a win win trade. Domantas wouldn't have to play next to Myles Turner any more. The Pacers would get something good for Domantas. Oladipo is out for a while.
