Here’s the big fish Danny has been chasing after — can he reel in Anthony Davis this summer?
New Orleans knows they have to trade AD this summer (if he’s made it clear he’s not staying) because the longer they wait, the less teams will offer for him — with just another season left on his contract, and no guarantee he’ll commit long term to whomever trades for him, teams will shy away from giving up everything to acquire him. And if it comes down to a one year rental, they’ll likely be selling Davis for much less than they’d hope.
Because of this, let’s say that we are able to hold on to Tatum in a trade for AD. How far can a team centered around AD, Horford, Hayward and Tatum go in the playoffs?
Let’s assume that AD continues to play like an All-NBA player, Horford is a fringe All-Star, Hayward plays like he deserves to be on the All-Star team, and Tatum is back on tract as a future star — and these guys jel and play with a tight bond.

My biggest concern about AD is that he just has a year left and then is a free agent. Do we trade away all of our assets and young guys to get AD for one year? He made it pretty clear that he wasn't interested in playing in Boston and then backtracked on it and said he would consider Boston. We don't know if he would re-sign with the Celtics or not. I would hope that if they do trade for him they get a guarantee that he would re-sign.

That was AD's father who said that he didn't want him to go to Boston because of the IT stuff, which is BS. AD never said that he wouldn't go to Boston and resign.

Only way to convince AD to stay would show him we have a good product in place, as in being true conterders.
Again, if we have AD, Horford, Hayward and Tatum, all playing great with tremendous chemistry, what would we still be lacking to make us legit contenders?

How far do you guys think we can go if we had
Davis Horford Hayward Tatum Kyrie
as our starting 5?

That would be [HASH]18 or bust talent wise. The only part I worry about is who would be the true "leader" of that group. We know it isn't Kyrie or Al, Tatum is too young and Davis doesn't seem the type either and with Gordon we don't know if he laid off the leadership part because he was coming back from the injury and wasn't playing well for most of the year.

Kyrie will probably assume that role upon himself. And if he does, I hope he's learned many lessons this past year about what a true leader is, and does. I think this projected team has a shot to beat any team out there, as long as it plays cohesively.

Those last six words are the key. Play as a team, or lose to someone else with lesser talent who does.

Those last six words are the key. Play as a team, or lose to someone else with lesser talent who does. And the hallmark of Brad's teams is they play hard, and they play together. For him to not have this out of this group must have been stressful for him (but he'll never show it). By far the most talented group he's ever coached, and yet the most dysunified.

It is being said that Anthony Davis is unlikely to change his mind about a trade request. He wants out of New Orleans.
With Zion coming in, NOR has a chance to start over with a new franchise player. They'll likely look to grab young assets whose timeline will be along Zion's.

If the report is true, David Griffin has begun to field offers for Anthony Davis — meaning AD is adamant about moving on from NOR.

A few months ago, AD joined up with Klutch sports and made Rich Paul his agent, teaming him up with Lebron James (and John Wall). You will remember that it was Klutch sports who tried to bully the Pelicans owner to trade AD to the Lakers at the trade deadline (which embarrassingly backfired in their face), which left a bad public impression of Rich Paul, and further demonized Lebron James.
Why AD willingly chose to join these guys is a head scratcher. Maybe we don’t want AD in Boston if he and his agent/associates are going to be trouble.

Now the rumor is that Danny will trade for AD no matter what Kyrie does because Tatum is the guy who they want more than anyone on the market. The trade will apparently be Tatum, Smart, [HASH]14 pick and filler for AD. How do you guys feel about that? There is also a rumor that we will go after Rubio to replace Kyrie. So if this happens then our lineup would be: Rubio Brown Heyword Horford AD I would want to resign Morris and then how much we fill out the bench would depend on the "filler" for the trade for Davis. Maybe the "promise" to that kid was because that is who NO wants us to draft for them? www.celticsblog.com/2019/6/7/18656278/discussion-if-kyrie-irving-leaves-should-the-boston-celtics-still-trade-for-anthony-davis

That seems like a great trade for us (just including Tatum, Smart, pick). I'd do it in a second.
It'd be nice to have a playmaker/passer at the point in Rubio, but it seems like an underwhelming signing to me (although I don't think we'll have much $$ to get anyone bigger). Brown would need to really step up in that lineup although I'd love to see our defense with AD/Horford.
