Apparently, Austin Ainge says we’ve narrowed it down to 10 guys we’d pick at 27.
Anyone want to take a stab at who those 10 could be?

We brought in 6 guys for workouts today:
Grayson Allen Jeffrety Carroll Billy Preston Deng Adel Kenrich Williams Alonzo Trier
Grayson is obviously a known commodity. Got the potential to crack the roster and stick.
Deng Adel caught my eye. Good strong wing player who has average athelticsm, average length, seems like he got enough skills, does a little bit of everything -- a Brad Stevens type player?
Billy Preston, if I had to guess, has maturity problems. Lots of talent, but head not on straight? Loves the perimeter shot.
Alonzo Trier had a really good year. Nice looking prospect, but I'm just leary of his type (the Buddy Hield type). Look good in college, but don't shine in the NBA.

With the emphasis on defense, we are probably looking in the direction if we narrow our attention on potential late round prospects who are versatile defenders (can guard multiple positions) and can contribute on offense.
Last year, we grabbed Semi Ojeleye, Jabari Bird, and Kadeem Allen — all 3 can defend and provide a touch of offense.
With that in mind, one guy who might be there at 27 who we might pass on is Moritz Wagner. An aggressive 6’11” big man who can hit threes and score around the basket, Wagner is not a good defender (or so it says on draft sites). Jaylen Brunson also might be a guy we pass on because he’s not a strong defender.
But maybe guys like Josh Okogie, Khyri Thomas, DeAnthony Melton, Jevon Carter, etc might be our targets due to their defensive strengths.

Maybe a little off topic, but since you mention Bird and Allen, does either one have the potential to replace Smart if we let him go?

I don't think you can replace Smart for all that he does (strong defensive presence, performs adequate PG duties, boosts energy and toughness level, inspires guys to play hard(er), etc). Bird and Allen are different types of players from Smart, and even from one another (Kadeem is a PG, Jabari is a SG/SF). I don't really see a futrue for Kadeem Allen on the team, but Jabri might be able to replace Abdel Nader, due to his defense abilities, quickness, and 3 pt accuracy (not great, but his potential is greater tahn Nader's).

Rawle Alkins had a workout with us.
He’s a guy who could be in contention for the 27th pick. 6’4” strong body, tough defender, from what i can tell he doesn’t play scared, and he can do some scoring (from 3, driving, pullups).

There is a foreigner I like. Something about how the ball drops in the hoop. I am thinking this year's player is a draft & stash.

Thanks to this poster on Celticsblog who has a running list of prospects who worked out for us: forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=96156.0Interesting how very few big men have worked out for us. It could be that there's a lack of quality big men in the late first round range. Or it could be a decoy. Or it could be that we're trading for KAT, so we don't to draft a big man.

9 days away from D-Day.
Austin Ainge said they've narrowed their site upon 10 players -- I'll do better than that and say we're going to draft one of these 7 guys (if they are there):
Donte Divincenzo Grayson Allen Rawle Alkins Jacob Evans Chandler Hutchinson Jerome Robinson Khyri Thomas

Isaiah Thomas. Kyrie Irving. Khyri Thomas. Seems inevitable.
Grayson Allen wouldn't surprise me at all. Danny likes instigators, as Red did. And he can shoot. Good size and long wingspan means defensive potential is there to guard multiple positions. Smart's replacement?
Danny Ainge on Allen: “When you watch him play, you see this fluidity and smoothness that not to many players have. His character is exactly what we want here.”

But i do think he's a real possible pick for us, due to his defensive nature and offensive abilities. I think Grayson Allen has Boston Celtic written all over him, except for one thing -- will he rise up to the defensive level our coaches want from every player?

What do you guys think of Gary Trent Jr? He seems to fit the mold of a scoring in bunches type player off the bench? Is he a reach or someone who we'd be lucky if he fell to us? Been watching his tape and its not bad at all. He is a pretty decent 3p shooter which fits our offensive scheme...and something neither Smart nor Rozier can do with consistency.
