After watching him tonight and in fact, seeing a recurring theme over and over again where Smart just doesn't play very smart at times..it feels unlikely that he'll be kept around. Don't get me wrong..the guy is a good defender who plays with grit and toughness (aside from the flops)...but offensively there is rarely a groove

How many minutes can he realistically expect on a team with a healthy Kyrie, Jaylen, Gordon, and Jayson? Not to mention TR. If Smart wants to max out his money that's going to mean going somewhere he can start - which ain't here.
Best case scenario is that someone offers Smart more than we can or want to, and we can work some kind of sign and trade so we get some kind of asset for him.

If you look at this thread, we were saying the exact same things about Smart back in October. He simply has no feel for what is an appropriate shot, and he isn't learning at all. Anyone who gives him big money is going to live to regret it.

Hence my idea to sing and trade him with the Sacramento pick to get KAT from Minny. Thibs would love him and see his defensive value especially if they make the rumored trade of Wiggins for Derozan as they wouldn't need him to score next to Butler and Derozan.

Yeah, then watch Smart jacking up more shots than DeRozan and Butler combined!
I'd love to get KAT for Smart and that pick. Just not sure it's enough to even get a conversation started with Minny.

That is just the start of the package to get him. We can throw in more picks...whatever it takes to get him as long as we don't give up anyone from our core.

The achilles heel of this team is Smart/Morris shooting 30%, while taking 20 shots.

Maybe add Semi (who is also be a Thibs type of player) and the Clipper + Memphis picks. We need more upfront, plus I would be very disappointed to see Smart in a Celtic uniform next year. I don't care how many hustle plays and defensive effort he gives, his offense is so bad and his judgement so off he loses as much as he wins for us. I can't fathom him playing clutch minutes with a title on the line, and the one area I don't trust Stephens in is that he actually encourages Smart to shoot and just "keep being himself." I, once and for all, am done with him. If we had Larkin available, and by some miracle Brad played him instead of Smart, we win tonight's game IMO (though there is AMPLE blame to go around for tonight's debacle).

My trade for KAT right now would be a choice between Brown/Heyward with a sign and trade of Smart with the Kings pick and their choice of the Memphis/LAC pick. No way they can turn that down. Our starting line up would be: Kyrie Tatum Heyward/Brown Horford KAT Bench Rozier Morris Banes Theis FA SG or Semi if he progresses.

It would be hard to trade Hayward to Minny after he made the tough decision to leave Utah to come to Boston. He probably wouldn't have left to join any team not coached by BS. Seems cruel to trade him off before he even had a chance to play for him again.
But would I trade Smart, Brown and 2 picks for KAT? I don't value Smart or the LA (lottery-protected) pick very highly. I don't think the Memphis pick will be that high with Conley returning and a possible talent infusion from this year's draft. So it comes down to Brown and the Sacro pick and I'd have to think hard about that. From what I understand, there are salary cap reasons why, if KAT were to be traded, it would most likely be this off-season, but I'd really like to see this team return intact, with Kyrie, Gordon and Theis, and minus Smart for another run.
I wouldn't instantly hate this trade, but I think it's a risk. I know Jaylen had a bad Game 7, but I think he's capable of being a regular 20-25 pt scorer, with him and Jayson anchoring this team for the next 10 years. Think of how far he's come in the last year. He's still only 21, two years younger than Bird when Larry was a rookie. Jaylen has a LOT of improvement ahead of him. I don't see any signs that his poor performance under the pressure of Game 7 is any kind of pattern.

If we could trade Al for KAT I would do it in a heartbeat, but Minny isn't dumb enough to do that. Al is nowhere near worth the 27M that Danny is paying him and it will be a good day when he is finally off of the books too. As for Gordon, Danny takes the emotion out of trades and that is why he is the best GM in the NBA. I like Gordon too, but if KAT is what gets us [HASH]18 and Minny wants him instead of Brown then it is see ya later Gordon.

I know Danny takes the emotion out of trades, and I like that about him, but this one would feel different, and it could even cause a rift between him and BS, which we don't want.

There is no way Hayward will be traded now. Hayward is the guy Coach Stevens wanted.

From NESN.com
"The Boston Celtics guard, like many of his teammates, had a woeful performance against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. Yet after the game, Smart, who will be a restricted free agent this offseason and reportedly is seeking $12-14 million annually, didn’t shy away from questions about his future. “To be honest, I’m worth more than 12-14 million,” Smart told ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan. “Just for the things I do on the court that don’t show up on the stat sheet. You don’t find guys like that. I always leave everything on the court, every game. Tell me how many other players can say that.”
He does leave everything on the court. Every night. But for me that's not enough. I need results. For every patented "Marcus Smart" hustle play, how many possessions does he piss away with bad shots or ill-advised passes?

Somehow, Smart is always + per game. +1 last game.
