Basically, Kyrie just wanted out of there. I'm curious to know what really went down.

I read a quote somewhere from Kyrie that led me to believe that the mess that the front office was made him want to go somewhere that was more solid. Gilbert has really caused a lot of upheaval in that front office and maybe he was tired of it and wanted an organization that was not quite as messed up.

Sometime a player want to be "the franchise" which require to make dumbfounded decision to be traded away from a preliminary NBA Final roster. It's actually good to see a player that want to succeed on their own rather riding the coattails of other stars carrying the team. I'm glad Kyrie view BOS as a good situation to build his repertoire as a top PG in this league and I hope he take it to the next level with the Steph Curry/Westbrook/Harden of this league. I'm sure there may be other variables in this decision with Lebron playing the mercenary role or Cav's owner being a total nutcase but, ultimately, Kyrie went old school on this decision by becoming the leader of this historic franchise. I want more Bird/Magic 1980s' attitudes of stars wanting to destroy other star players not join them to get a "guarantee" championship.

It sounds more and more likely that Lebron James will bolt CLE a second time. I think if Kyrie wanted to be the face of a franchise, he could have waited one more year to get that -- and in the meantime, make it to the Finals one more time with Lebron.

I'm thinking more and more that Kyrie mostly wanted to escape from that dysfunctional front office and owner more than wanting to be the face of a team or wanting to get away from LeBron. I can't blame him because that team's a mess.

I can't blame him because that team's a mess. Getting rid of Griffin was the beginning of the end for CLE. Their screw up became our benefit.

Kyrie was interviewed on the First Take and answered questions from Stephen A. Smith.
Really, 2 things stood out the most.
1) He wants to be in an environment where he can develop and grow and nuture his basketball craft, as well as, as a person. Sounded like he was taking a shot at the coach, when you think about what Kyrie said earlier about wanting to play for good coaches like Greg Popovic and Brad Stevens.
2) He has something against Lebron. There's something going on with that relationship there. If they were on good terms, and he cared about his relationship with Lebron, it's only natural that he would have talked to Lebron about leaving (and wanting to leave). But he clearly stated he didn't talk to Lebron, he doesn't care what Lebron will think, nor does he care about how Lebron will feel. It's like Kyrie grabbed a samurai sword and severed their friendship, not only their professional relationship, but outside of basketball as well.

DM,
Did any coach have control in Cleveland or was it James' team to run? Did Kyrie owe even a sneeze at Labron?
If you wanted out of your current job, do you owe anyone else notice, other than management if needed?

No, an employee doesn't owe anything to his employer, or the people he works with. But the only time i have seen an employee leave without telling the employer or his coworkers is when the employee wasn't happy, or he disliked the employer and coworkers.
The ones who were on good terms made sure they gave all of us a heads up, out of respect, and to make sure no bridges were burned.

Today, I read an article on espn.com, which Brian Windhorst color commentated Irving's responses. My take on Irving requesting a trade is that Lebron James had a negative polarizing effect on CLE. Everything CLE did, from the coaching staff, GM, and owner was based on appeasing Lebron. Irving simply had enough.

DM- Might be hard to believe... I've left jobs knowing I was burning a bridge. Made a better choice for my bride and me. Pissed off at work = gone. Bringing "pissed off at work" home to Mrs Jenny = gone.
Tend to get a better job, when you stand by your beliefs and have a couple brain cells.
And,
I still live with my bride.
Brain cells do help. Still looking, my friends...

Like we all concluded, Kyrie was done with CLE, and done with Lebron. He wanted out of there. And within what he's saying in interviews, you can hear him saying he was tired of being handicapped by Lebron and the coaches, not being given the opportunity to grow.

Sounds like the first impressions at fall practice are favorable for Irving. Young studs need to show up and play this season...

IT is pretty ticked off at Ainge. Says he may never talk to him again, which means he'll harbor a dislike for Danny for a long time.
Well, to be fair, IT, it was Ainge who helped you get to where you are today. He liked you so much that he targeted you, and traded for you, even when the league had little interest in you (and to be honest, I don't think many GM's are interested in acquiring you even after your tremendous season you just had). To many execs, you are an interesting gimmick, standing 5'8" and scoring the way you do. But to have such an undersized player leading a team to a championship, it isn't a realistic plan.
Danny took a chance on you, you helped get us back on the map, and you got the fame and recognition you deserve. It wasn't just a one sided benefit.
And who knows, had you not been looking for the "brinks truck", had you been open to being a bench sparkplug, you may yet be a Celtic today.
Things didn't work out the way you had wanted it to, but that don't mean you should go on hating the man who brought you to the place you would flourish. Things happen.
