So I guess we're trying to grab Paul George. If we get him, does that prevent us from targeting Gordon Hayward? Or is the plan to get both?
Fresh, how does this work financially?

IND really has no leverage in trade talks. They know Paul George is leaving, and they risk losing him and getting absolutely nothing in return.
Danny can stand pat with his offer, and see if anyone beats his offer.
And Danny has those future draft picks in his hands. If a team ups his offer, Danny can always drop another pick on the table (if he really wants George).

According to Scal on the draft show on CSNNE, he thinks that the Celtics will end up with Kevin Love while the Cavs get Paul George in a 3 team trade.
I don't like this because I don't like helping the Cavs. Let them fall apart. And I'd rather George than Love anyway. But Scal seems to think Danny still wants Love.

Golden State exposed Kevin Love in the Finals. But I trust Danny, and I trust Brad, who probably is onboard with Ainge about going after Love. **Ok, I just listened to that inverview, and Scalabrine doesn't sound like he's coming to this conclusion based on anything he heard. I got the impression that this is something he conjured up on his own. Sounds like that to me, but who knows.

Yeah, it sounds like it is Scal's opinion. I really don't want Love and I don't want to help the Cavs get better, But like you said, who knows.
Just read that Dwyane Wade may opt out of his 24 million player option next year with the Bulls and try to join the Cavs on a min salary to go after one more ring with LeBron.

I wonder if it's between our offer and the Lakers' offer of Randle (or Clarkson) and draft picks?

Rich Gotham was interviewed today, and he says free agency is a good way to get players because you don't have to give up players or assetts; but it costs more, to which he said they were willing to spend.
I think we're definitely pursuing Hayward this summer.
Now, if we're going after Paul George, we'd have to trade to get him. And I guess it can be done, though we'll be losing some core players and draft picks.
But we risk the danger of losing him next summer, though we'd have a strong team for at least next season.

Jimmy Butler isn't a Celtic because Danny refused to offer the #3 and Brooklyn's '18 pick.
Will he offer the '18 for Paul George?

Jimmy Butler isn't a Celtic because Danny refused to offer the #3 and Brooklyn's '18 pick. Will he offer the '18 for Paul George? Only for a sign and trade or it isn't worth it to give Indiana that pick and then watch him go to the Fakers. That makes next season a total failure if we don't win #18 and I am not sure that team will be able to do it.

i'm really hoping that Hayward will sign with the Celtics. We don't need a year of Paul George then. The only way I'd give up core players for George if he would indicate that he was willing to stay after this season.
With LeBron planning to bolt for LA I imagine that there will be other players, as there always are, who want to follow him there to hang on his coattails.

I guess Andy Kaufman thinks (or he's heard) that the offer for Paul George was
-Lakers 2018 pick (or the Sacremento 2019 if we don't get the Lakers '18 pick) -non-Brooklyn pick -Jae Crowder -fillers
If this is the offer, and George will re-sign with us, that's a deal that isn't hard to swallow. Especially if he comes along with Gordon Hayward.

I'm getting attached to the Clipper pick (especially if Paul and Griffin leave), but if the end result is George resigning and Hayward signing with us, I can live with it. I'd sure like to keep it though.

From what I'm reading, the Celtics' pursuit of free agents Hayward or Griffin will most likely precede any trade for Paul George, largely because of salary cap restrictions. So by the time we'd be engaged in serious talks with Indy for George, we should know 1) if we have landed a big fish and 2) if the Clippers are losing both Griffin and Chris Paul - which would hugely affect the value of the Clips '19 pick we own.
Meanwhile, this week will see us cutting ties with a bunch of guys to clear the cap space needed for a FA.
