My understanding is that Doo was not let go, but decided he wanted to travel less/be home more with his family. The team may have asked him to be with the team even more than in the past.

Yea losing those guys hurt as they've been with us for so long. It's gonna be weird looking at the bench and not seeing Doo or Ed.

Here's what Brian Doo said: "The team was making some changes and looking at some new and different things, and I think it’s really good that they’re doing that ... but when I looked at what was going to be needed from me, I had to make some decisions. They gave me options, but when I looked at everything, I decided to make a clean break. I’ve got five little kids at home. I don’t want to miss them growing up, and I’ve already missed too many things. My wife’s been a single parent for a long time. And I don’t get to see my parents enough "

We're bringing Shane Larkin in on a comeback deal (Larkin turned down 6 mil overseas, to come back home and play in the NBA).
Lot of speculating going on. Maybe he's just a camp invite. Maybe he's here to stay and Ainge is looking to pull the trigger on another trade.

I always thought Larkin was competent and a tad underrated. He's a fine 4th pg

I really don't see the point of this signing. Not seeing what he brings to the table. Too small to be an effective PG. Is not a great shooter or passer to counter, or offset, what he lacks.

The Boston Celtics have officially signed Guerschon Yabusele. Assuming Daniel Theis is fully gtd, this gives Boston 16 fully gtd players.
Either there is going to be a trade or one guaranteed contract gets cut in camp.

My guess is that Danny is still thinking about trades and that this move allows him to consider trading Smart or Rozier. If no trade happens and Theis doesn't stink, then Larkin gets cut.

I'm thinking that Larkin is insurance against the possibility that Isaiah's hip isn't ready for training camp or in case it acts up again. They don't really have another starting quality ball handler. Rozier and Smart can handle the ball but I have a feeling that brad doesn't want to depend on them alone in case IT can't
Danny may be planning a trade - with him, you can never count it out- possibly one of the wings where we have several players who are redundant. If there isn't a trade, then maybe training camp weeds out the player to be cut after some tough competition in camp.

Watching Larkin, he's not a steady ball handler. Doesn't control it as much as he ought to, being an undersized PG.

Larkin said he decided to sign with us after talking with Ainge and hearing what Danny has in mind. Based on that, I don't think Danny only offered him a camp invite (cause he could be cut, and now he's on the street and out of luck). He left a guaranteed 6 mil behind -- there's got to be more than meets the eye.

Ok, I'm sort of understanding the Larkin signing now. But only when I compare him to recently cut Demetrius Jackson. They essentially occupy the same role and position.
Where does Larkin have Jackson beat? I see two areas: speed and a quicker trigger.
The one thing that really stands out in Larkin is how quickly he darts around the court. If harnessed correctly, that speed can be used as a weapon. Demetrius is a tad slower.
Next, Larkin looked more comfortable and confident pulling the trigger on his jumper. While not Eddie House quick, it is quicker than Demetrius'.
Maybe Larkin is our Patty Mills.
