Rest your body, IT. Get lots of treatment cause we're going to need you again next season.

If IT needs some time to rest, even if its the regular season, then i think its fine. Its a good chance to bring Brown along with more time for Smart and Rozier as well as whether we end up signing Hayward or not.

Celtics renounced the draft rights to Marcus Thornton.
First of the moves to clear up max cap space by July 1.

haha oh boy Colton Iverson. Yes, that's what happens when you gotta pick somebody late in the 2nd round. I looked it up and we renounced our rights to him last August.

I can't quite figure out why we declined the holds on Colton and Marcus T. I didn't think it costs anything to keep em. I assume maybe it's an agreement with the agent so they can be a free agent.

btw....I looked up Colton Iverson's situation.
He is on a very respectable Euro team ....Maccbi Tel Aviv, which last won a preseason game against an NBA team in 2005, and has lost 10 times since then, sometimes pretty badly.
They're starting 5 are all Americans. Colton is 2nd string.....but....remember Joe Alexander? The Taiwanese guy drafted 8th? He's third string.

The Woj double bomb of the Celtics trying to get both Hayward and PG13 has everyone excited. To get both of them, the Celtics would need to do a lot of cutting of salary and move out players. That would leave the Celtics in the opposite of the position they are in now. They have a deep team of very good players but not stars. If they get both Hayward and George, they will have stars but not depth.
Here’s a look at the team’s current payroll:
Guaranteed contracts for 2017-18 season
Al Horford: $27.7 million Avery Bradley: $8.8 million Jae Crowder: $6.8 million Isaiah Thomas: $6.2 million Jayson Tatum: $5.43 million Jaylen Brown: $4.96 million Marcus Smart: $4.5 million Terry Rozier: $1.99 million
Total guaranteed money: $66.43 million
Non-guaranteed/partially guaranteed contracts for 2017-18 season
Tyler Zeller: $8 million (guaranteed if not waived by 7/2/17) Jordan Mickey: $1.5 million (guaranteed if not waived by 7/15/17) Demetrius Jackson: $1.4 million ($650,000 guaranteed, fully guaranteed if not waived by 7/15/17)
Draft and stash players:
Guerschon Yabusele Ante Zizic Abdel Nader
To clear cap space for max contract the Celtics may need to: Renounce the rights on all impending unrestricted free agents (Amir Johnson, Jonas Jerebko, Gerald Green, James Young). The Celtics may be able to resign some of them to vet min contracts.) Rescind Kelly Olynyk’s qualifying offer. Cut Jordan Mickey and Tyler Zeller. Stash Guerschon Yabusele and sign Ante Zizic and possibly Nader. Trade Terry Rozier or Marcus Smart.
After renouncing players and trading some, here's what is left, giving the Celtics’ $29.7 million to sign Player X:
Al Horford: $27.7 million Avery Bradley: $8.8 million Jae Crowder: $6.8 million Isaiah Thomas: $6.2 million Jayson Tatum: $5.43 million Jaylen Brown: $4.96 million Terry Rozier: $1.99 million (or Marcus Smart) Ante Zizic: $1.645 million
4 min salary slots ($815,615)
That would leave Jae or Avery to include in the trade for PG12.
Daniel Theiss fits in this somewhere. Maybe one of the vet min contracts.
Adam Kaufman says that he is hearing that the Celtics offer for George is LAL/SAC pick from PHI, '19 MEM OR LAC pick, Crowder, $$ filler (Possibly Bradley or Zeller if they hang onto him beyond July2).
Lots to consider and things would have to fall just right for the Celtics to get both. I keep thinking that since Indy knows that the Celtics have the Brooklyn pick and so many others they may demand them along with possibly Jay and Avery.

No way they get the Nets pick unless we have a guarantee that George will resign. I don't mind if we have a very strong 8-10 guys and the other five are fillers. The bottom five on title teams don't play anyway.

One thing that list of contracts for 2017-18 is missing is tatum's deal. all 2017 first rounders automatically count against the cap.
