So are you guys on board if it's Gasol for Crowder and Bradley (plus deep bench players)? I don't think this trade is feasible, cap-wise. I think the only way to make it work is if it involves Horford's contract going out. I think one theory is that we could sign KO and go over the cap to do it and then trade him (sign and trade) for something either to the Jazz or to Memphis...now we are legally over the cap. Like we sign KO to a large contract and send him to Utah. Now we're legit over the cap by like 18 mill. Now trade Jae, Avery, J Mickey, and Demetrious Jackson for M Gasol. Sorta something like that. Now use the MLE and the LLE. Use the two way contracts on the 2nd rounders or Abdel Nader or something.

If we have to send out both Smart and Rozier to bring in Hayward and Gasol, that explains the two deep 2nds being used on pgs. I thought that was weird. Put em on those new two way contracts. In that case I'd maybe think Ainge would eventually contact Tyreke Evans about the MLE and Monta Ellis about the LLE. Hard to say. Maybe go after defensive pgs. Maybe Tony Allen could help

Jabari Bird is a SG.
Kadeem Allen seems to be decent at handling Point duties, but he won't create much for anyone, incouding himself. But I still like him more than Demetrius Jackson.
If we trade both Smart and Rozier, my guess is Danny will need to fill that void somehow. Maybe we can do it internally by having Hayward bring up the ball, or even asking rookie Tatum to do that.

Free agent forward Rudy Gay has agreed to a two year deal with the Spurs, league sourcs tell ESPN. I'm curious to see if Popovic can change the direction of the river that Rudy Gay has been flowing down. Can he turn Rudy Gay into a valuable and productive member of a top notch organization and team? Didn't turn out so well with LaMarcus Aldridge. We'll see how Gay fares.

I think this kind of contract is a huge mistake. It seems that the way to win is to pay the genuine stars what you need to (in other words a boatload of money) and fill out the roster with rookie contracts and vet minimums. It seems this is the way Danny is headed. By this time next year we'll have Horford, Hayward, IT on max deals, Brown, Tatum, the Nets' pick, possibly the Laker's pick on rookie deals, forming the core of the roster. Zizic, Yabu, Semi will add a few more rookie contracts to the mix. That's 10. If Rozier is around that's another rookie deal. That's 11. Second round picks and vet minimums will fill out the rest. Crowder, if he's still here, won't cost much. Smart will be the only real decision next Summer as far as money goes.
Paying mediocre players $18 million per year is a recipe for failure.
