I think it would have been much better to sign Crawford. Trade isaih Thomas. Sign either horford or Whiteside. Crawford can score off the bench. So point wise a wash.. Maybe you lose a little cap flexibility.. But you should be able to get a great return by trading Thomas.. I think maybe a starter and a draft pick.
If we had Crawford and could get Westbrook for Thomas.. We should definitely score points..

Don't know why we ought to trade Thomas at this moment, when he has been a great teammate, a great ambassador who helps in recruiting players to Boston, and he has a bargain contract.

I agree, Derren. Isaiah has been a great ambassador for the team. We have Horford because he started recruiting him at the All Star game. He definately has a bargain contract. He's also very good.

He is a exciting player. Offensively gifted.. Defensively?
To improve you cannot hold on to players. Sell while his value is high. What if this Carmelo prediction s are accurate?
He must have incredible value given his cap hit etc..

I don't think he's a starter on a championship team if he's the best player. But on a team where he's the 3rd best player, yeah, I can see that.
Think about Jose Juan-Barrea when Dallas won the title. Scrappy guy who could shoot and do some passing. No one would say he's better than Isaiah Thomas, would they?

The point of trying to trade Isaiah was to get a stud like Dirk . Or a Scotty pippen. I think Isaiah on a true championship team is a 6th player off the bench. If we could have signed Crawford, we could have that same type of player. Production ..Then take Isaiah add something and get a really good starter.. |

I like Crawford, but the dude is gonna turn 37 next year. My guess is he has one good year left. Look at the history of shooting guards in the NBA, and look to see who were still good players at the ages 37-39. It's rare. If we were on the cusp of winning a championship I would've loved to see us make a move on crawford, but this team is not gonna win a title this year.

Does a core of Horford, Cousins and Crawford beat the Cavs or the Warriors? I don't think so. I'd rather not tie up cap room on guys Crawford's age until we are a surefire contender.

But we would've had to sign him for at least three years. That's what he got from the Clippers. And I wouldn't want his contract on the books in the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

So a Big 3 of Cousins-Horford-Crawford wouldn't beat the Cavs or the Warriors (I agree). What about Griffin-Horford-Westbrook? Don't ask how we'd pull this off. |

depending on who we got to keep around of a supporting cast, i think they'd have a shot. it would be worth exploring, but like you said, who do you make that happen?

So altogether we'd be losing Amir, Marcus, Avery, Jaylen, Rozier, Zeller and draft picks.
But we'd be able to send out a lineup of:
