The problem is that both the Clippers and Thunder will be looking to get as much as possible for their players. We may have to completely gut the team to get either or both of those players. I'd rather keep what we have and shoot for them next off season when we are in the driver's seat and they are free agents.

The problem is that we may not be able to land either of them. They are going to go where they can win it now. And that may not be us.

They may not get either Westbrook or Griffin but there are a lot of free agents next year and who knows what team will be desperate at the trade deadline when their plans don't work out.

I don't think those 2 are the only players that can help us. They help the offense for sure. I am in favor of trying to get Hayward cheap. Sign and trade? He could help Jaylen develop.

I too like the idea of getting Hayward. There will be other players we aren't even thinking of now who may be made available at the trade deadline or next off season. I keep thinking that Danny needs to be patient and if he can't get a star now without giving up too much then he should wait until he can find a good deal.

The positive side of that is sometimes the best deals are the ones you don't make. The negative side to me would be the rookies get exposed as mediocre. That Brooklyn does well this year and we are still a 48 win team.. All very real possibility s.. And sometimes you can stagnate from fear.

Very true on both the negative and positive side to standing pat and waiting. I'm hoping that some of our young guys have a break out year and we end up with home grown stars.

And that is the big gamble a GM takes by hoping his young players reach their ceiling. I think Jaylen's ceiling is higher than Jimmy Butler's, but then again, maybe Jaylen never reaches the level that Butler's at now either. Its a very difficult decision.

I'm a glass half full kind of person so I'm going to say that Brown becomes a star and is even better than Butler. And Marcus Smart has a break out year as does Rozier. And so does Mickey. If I'm wrong I'm wrong but I'll enjoy watching them anyway.

If I'm wrong I'm wrong but I'll enjoy watching them anyway. FL, I'm a draft nut because its exciting to see which young player we'll draft and to dream about how great he's going to be. But I think I've seen my fair share of young players who had high ceilings, who I had high hopes for, but never panned out, or fell short of reaching their potential. Marcus Banks (we were all excited about him being the next Baron Davis) Big Al (he did well, but not the 20 and 10 guy I thought he'd be) Gerald Green Rajon Rondo (did reach stardom, but didn't stay there long) SebastianTelfair (man, was I ever wrong on this kid) Jared Sullinger (supposed to be a high lottery pick Now, I try to temper my excitement for young players because I've been bummed too often. But believe me, FL, I'm an eternal optimist too -- its just that I'm more picky now about who I go ga-ga over.

And to my limited exposure he doesn't appear to be motivated enough to take the bull by the horns.

As weird as this may sound, I won't mind "not" getting the top pick in 2017.
I think there's going to be guys vying for the top spot who I don't feel will be the best player in the draft. Guys like Josh Jacksno, Harry Giles, and maybe even Markelle Fultz will all possibly be in the mix. But the guy I think will turn out to be the best is Dennis Smith Jr, and he's currently projected to go in the 3 - 6 range.
