Time for some revenge. The Bulls totally did a number on us last time out and we need to get even.
Hinrich scored 21 pts and exposed Dickau's defense. Rivers is leaning toward making Delonte our starter just because he offers better defense against PG's. Lets see how well Delonte can guard Hinrich, a fan favorite of many Greeniacs.
Jefferson won't be back yet, so we'll probably continue seeing the Raef and Blount combo with Perkins coming off the bench. I expect to see Pierce and Ricky round out the starting 5. But I do want to see Ryan Gomes getting the surprise start at SF with Pierce going to SG and Ricky going back to the bench, where we sorely need his instant scoring. Gomes has shown to be a very good rebounder and supplemental scorer this preseason and he might do even better playing with the starters.
Banks is out for at least 3 months, so Ricky and Pierce may be counted on to handle the ball more. I hope to see Orien get more playing time so that he can learn a few more things.
Can't get blown out twice by the same team in preseason or else they'll have bragging rights.

I don't think the score will be as bad as the first game against them. Doc will definitely have them look at some tape. As the pre-season nears to an end, start to look for the rotation that Doc is going to go with.
I say we lose in a close game, but play decent (similar to the first preseason game)

I want to see our team FG% up, team TO's down and Perkins with 3 or less fouls.
A close game that we win at home.

Against CHI, that's a tough thing, C17. The Bulls are one of the best, if not the best, defensive teams in the league. Like I mentioned in the first matchup, they were the best at keeping the opp. FG% down and no other team has allowed less 100 pt games than the Bulls did last year.
This time around, we need to get some easy points off of turnovers (not to mention limit our turnovers) and we need to move around the court and get open shots.

Yep, right about time to get the game started. We need to get off to a hot start, build a good sized lead, keep the pressure on, and finish strong. Ricky and Raef need to have strong games because when they do, we usually win.
On NBAtv, they had this rookie special, which is a look at some of the league's rookies and they comment on how they will do this season. They showed both Ryan Gomes and Gerald Green. Showed clips of the last game vs. Chicago and both of them looked pretty good.

OK, game has started. Raef, Blount, Pierce, Ricky, and Delonte. Up 2 - 1 early on. Blount with the basket.
Pierce with the drive to the hoop, 4 - 3, after Hinrich hits both FT's.
Blount is rebounding the ball, already having collected 3 boards.
Blount hits a jumper, assist from Ricky, 6 - 3.
Sweetney makes a shot, 6 - 5.
Blount misses shot, but Delonte is there for the offensive putback, 8 - 5.
Deng converts on the other end, 8 - 7.
Pierce gets the pass from Blount, converts the layup and gets fouled, but misses the FT, 10 - 7.
Pierce makes up for it by hitting a 3 pointer on the next C's possession, 13 - 7. Assist from Ricky.
Timeout CHI.
Here's how the stats look so far. Leading scorers: Pierce 7, Blount 4. Leading Rebounder: Blount 4. Leading Assist: Ricky 2. Rebounding difference, 8 - 3. FG difference: 54% to 29%

Pierce hits another 3, assist from Delonte, 16 - 7.
Blount commits his 2nd TO with a bad pass.
Rebounding difference now at 11 - 4, BOS.
Pierce off to a hot start, already with 10 pts with 5 minutes left in the first quarter. Blount has been a rebounding presence, already with 6 boards in the same amount of time.
Hinrich scores, 16 - 9.
Blount hits a 14 footer, assist from Pierce, 18 - 9.
Dickau comes in for Delonte.
Technical foul on Othella Harrington for fouling Blount, Pierce converts the tech, 19 - 9.
Blount converts both FT's, 21 - 9. Blount with 8 pts, 6 boards with 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter. That's like his game average on a good night last year.
Harrington hits a shot, 21 - 11.
Dickau gets fouled, converts only one of two, 22 - 11.
Both teams miss their shots, and Rivers call a timeout, probably to bring in the subs.
Yep, Gomes comes in replacing Raef at PF. He misses his first shot, an 18 foot attempt, but Pierce grabs the offensive board. On that possession, Chandler fouls Ricky away from the ball, and Ricky converts the technical foul shot, 23 - 11.
Chicago doesn't score on their possession, and Dickau misses a 3 point attempt. But Gomes is there for the offensive board and gets fouled by Songaila. Gomes makes 1 - 2 from the stripe, 24 - 11.
Nocioni hits a three poitner, 24 - 14.
Dickau returns the favor, and nails a three of his own, 27 - 14. On CHI possession, Gomes steals the ball, gets the ball to Ricky, and Ricky scores, 29 - 14.
Songaila makes shot, 29 - 16.
Pierce misses shot, but Perkins (who came in for Blount) gets the offensive rebound and is fouled. Perkins hits one of two, 30 - 16.
Justin Reed in for Pierce. So its now Perkins, Gomes, Reed, Ricky, and Dickau.
Nocioni hits a 3 pointer with 2 seconds left, 30 - 19.
Ricky throws up a desparation 3, but doesn't convert.
After the 1st quarter, the score is 30 - 19.
FG%: BOS 46%, CHI 35% REBS: BOS 17, CHI 7 ASSTS: BOS 8, CHI 3 STLS: BOS 2, CHI 2 BLKS: BOS 2, CHI 2 TO's: BOS 5, CHI 3
We are off to a very good start. Now, in order for this to continue, we need to keep the offense flowing and the defense really needs to pressure the ball. Rebounding is key, and that's the reason we are up. Nice to see the second team contributing. Blount and Pierce kept the first unit stable with their hot scoring, but Dickau and Gomes came in and provided some much needed points and rebounds.

Start of the 2nd, Songaila gets a drive to the hoop and the foul, 30 - 22.
Justin Reed gets fouled and hits both shots, 32 - 22.
Both teams miss shots close to the rim.
Sweetney converts a basket, 32 - 24.
Sweetney fouls Perkins, who hits 2 of 2 from the line, 34 - 24.
Scalabrine is in the game.
The second unit is not producing right now, but neither are the Bulls, so its a wash.
Justin Reed gets fouled and hits both FT's, 36 - 24. Reed must be playing physical on offense because he's getting fouled.
Perkins has 2 boards in only 3 minutes and Gomes has 2 steals in only 3 minutes.
We aren't shooting the ball all that well (44%), but we are getting to the line (17 times already). That's why we are leading the game.
Gomes fouls Chandler, who hits only 1 of 2, 36 - 25.
Perkins grabs another board, but Reed misses an 18 footer.
Scalabrine gets the defensive board. Dickau takes a three point shot, but misses, and Scala is there for the cleanup (he's a pretty good offensive rebounder). 38 - 25.
CHI scores at the other end, 38 - 27.
Ricky and Pierce are in, Reed and Perkins are out. Lets see if the offense can come back alive again.
Chandler gets a dunk, 38 - 29.
Gordon scores, 38 - 31.
Gomes pulls down another board (now has 4 in 8 minutes).
Blount comes in for Scala.
Pierce gets fouled by Duhon, but misses both FT's, 38 - 31, 5:56 left in the 2nd.

Delonte and Orien Greene are in the game now. Gomes and Dickau are out. Lets see what Orien can do.
Orien steals the ball from Ben Gordon. Blount misses a layup, but Delonte is there for the offensive tip in (after missing it first, and then collecting his miss). 40 - 31.
Delonte turns the ball over and Hinrich hits a three at the other end, 40 - 34.
Duhon fouls Ricky, and Davis hits 2 of 2 from the line, 42 - 34.
Ricky fouls Duhon, and Chris converts both FT's, 42 - 36.
Hinrich steals the ball from Delonte and gets a layup, 42 - 38. Timout BOS.
After building a big lead in the first quarter, the B-Unit has squandered the lead and now its only a 4 pt lead with 3:15 to go. Doc needs to find the combination of players that work well with each other.

Our FG% has plummetted, now down to 35%. CHI has done better with their FG%.
CHI only scored 19 pts in the first quarter and has now matched that total with 2 minutes left to go. After scoring 30 pts in the first, we've only managed 12 pts in the second--a real testament that we need work with our second unit.
Hinrich gets another layup, 42 - 40.
Nocioni gets fouled, but misses both FT's.
We violate the :24 second clock and turn the ball over.
CHI ties the game with a Chandler bucket, 42 - 42 with 1:51 to go in the half.
Raef hits a three pointer, 45 - 42.
Nocioni hits a bucket, 45 - 44.
Dickau commits the offensive foul, and Powell scores on the other end, giving CHI the lead, 46 - 45.
Pierce is fouled by Powell, and hits 2 of 2, 46 - 47.
CHI misses the basket, and Pierce is fouled in the act of shooting again. He converts 2 of 2, 46 - 49, BOS.
Orien and Justin come in for Blount and LaFrentz.
Ricky steals the ball from Hinrich and tries to beat the buzzer, but misses.
At the half, BOS 49, CHI 46.
BOS 1st quarter 30 pts 2nd quarter 19 pts
CHI 1st quarter 19 2nd quarter 27
As you can see, we struggled in the second, primarily because we went with the mixed lineup. Can't blame the bench players too much because they consist of new players (Gomes, Dickau, Orien, Scala) aside from Perkins, Delonte, and Reed. Obviously, there's things we need to work on to improve our game, but the first quarter is very encouraging. And we still don't have Al Jefferson and Tony Allen back. These 2 players should be a big boost for us.

I'm thinking that we are using too many players. Of course, this is the preseason and we are trying to give all players a look, but once season starts, I don't think we'll be using a 14 man rotation like we are now (and this is not even considering Marcus Banks, Gerald Green, Will Bynum, and Curtis Borchardt).
11 players have played in tonight's game:
Raef, Blount, Pierce, Ricky, Delonte, Gomes, Perkins, Reed, Scala, Dickau, and Orien. Rivers could elect to go with a streamlined 9 man rotation (which he mentioned is his preference last year). So if he had to cut off 2 players from tonight's game, who would they be?

And after Jefferson is back... ? A ten man rotation might be needed with such a young team. Orien will get spot PT.
