It sucks to be without work after graduating. Im just hoping that things will work out soon. Now back to the topic. Derren, you are setting oyourself up for a HUGE disappointment. If this team cracks .500, you should be delighted. Too many young players, especially at PG, a young PF who still has to learn NBA defense, a soft C who would rather shoot threes than play inside, a coach who cant coach defense even if his life depended on it and an improved conference doesnt add upto 45 wins, let alone 50.
And those who think that West will turn out to be the answer at PG are also in line for a disappointment. His handles are average though his IQ is high and he will not be able to break a defense with his dribble. He is and always will be a guy who can take an open shot off someone else's drive, but he will NEVER become a guy who can dribble his way through traffic. And did I mention that he will not play a whole season without breaking something? Thats why I cant understand this lovefest for West or this hate for Banks. Banks may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he has speed, is athletic, built like a bull and can break down a defense with his dribble. The reason he is not a pass first PG is because, he was THE man at UNLV. He was their main scorer, so he is taking a while to learn the PG spot. And dont forget that both Obie and Doc have been unduly harsh on him.
My prediction, 42 wins top. barely make the playoffs and West gets injured halfway through the season.

Sprash, I like your way of thinking even though its a bit pessimistic. Banks is being talked about in trades way more than West. West I like better for sure but Banks is just as valuable to us in other ways. Danny may still be kicking himself for not picking Ridnour and maybe thats why his name always comes up. It still doesn't mean Banks is hopeless. Ridnour was just passed up on due to it being Dannys 1st year. Banks can be a 13ppg, 2-3spg pg. He will be known for defense. He will be better than Van Exel was in that way amongst others who are solid pgs in the league like BJ. Tyronn Lue is another guy who is viewed as a solid average point guard who scores and Banks even has a better chance to be better than him especially defensively. Banks should be held onto. I never judged his game. I just always know he will never be a passing pg.

Sprash, you are looking at the PG situation as if Delonte needs to be like Steve Nash. If he was, I'd have the same pessimistic outlook as you do because I do not feel that Delonte is capable of being a PG like Nash. You are right about him not having that type of playmaking ability (though I do think you are underrating his abilities). But Delonte is not going to be asked to set up players all the time. He, along with the rest of the team, will be tasked to keep the ball moving around the court and find the open man. He'll be asked to run pick and rolls (that's why he's been working on this part of his game this summer), but I'm certain that he won't be tasked to penetrate and create plays for teammates too often. He'll do it when the opportunity arises, but for the most part, he'll just be one of the 5 players on the court with the mission to keep the ball moving.
This team may be young, but there are also adequate veterans shuffled in with the youth.
I know that I am being overly optimistic with my thoughts of a 50 win team. It may be my way to keep my spirits high for the coming season during the slow summer period. Just about 2 weeks guys, before training camp!!!

Delonte will be just as good of a pg as what Jason Williams is now only he'll be underpaid unlike J-Will. like a 10-11ppg, 5apg player. Nothing like a Nash though.

Banks is going to surprise alot of people this year. We know his defense is solid. Just needs more confidence running the team.

I see this down the road, with him on another team. He's trade-bait IMO. Now or never.

On this team I think he can be something also. Why trade him to a SA or a Phoenix and give them a chance to win rings let alone a conference rival like Detroit or Indiana.

I really dont ever see him being a starting PG in the league, or even a good backup.

From what I've been reading lately, I think Banks WILL have "game" this season. I know that he has the quickness, speed, strength and defense. All that he needs now is the "head" . I believe that is why Danny has deliberately created a logjam at the PG position. This will encourage or bring out the true PG skills that Danny (myself) believe Banks possess. He will have to play "smart" ball in training camp to win over the coaches. During the offseason, it seems that he has spent a lot of time just getting his head together. WATCH OUT for Banks !!!!

Yea bleedgreen, that could also be possible as to why Danny is doing this. Also for West if you think about it. Dickau is a challenging pg to pass to get Delonte and Banks starting spots. Danny surely had the right idea here.

I hope Banks has his head on right. He really could be good. I have the same 'mental' concerns about Allen and MBlount (kinda a given on MB)...
