This is why Danny should try to get a pick in a trade from Dallas or Sacramento or even the Suns as crazy as it sounds. The west little by little is watering down and seeing that, Danny may make a trade for another 1st round pick with a team currently doing ok but not bad like they could be doing in 07. I don't see Houston in this picture by then though. The suns made major changes so maybe it can happen to them.

Well, I also didn't expect Boston to go out and get Antoine Walker again either so you gotta count that in. If they hadn't, 38 wins may have been possible. who says we won't have similar situation at the deadline. after all walker was good only for one stretch (when he came we won something like 11 out of 12). but all the inconsistency we had before that - we should be better than we used to be

You gotta think that a whole year under River's system is going to help them be more efficient and execute the X's and O's. Last year, Pierce had to make big time adjustments to his game in order to fit in with River's style. Gary Payton didn't help much as he was said to do his own thing.
We could win 50 this year.

Well, its just 5 more wins than what you think. I guess it all depends on how well we play as a team. If we play as a team, the sky is the limit. If we start focusing on idividuals, we struggle with .500.

Yea this is why Danny should ship Paul Pierce out as soon as he can. It will be a .500 team if Paul Pierce only focuses on himself. But 50 wins? Are you insane Derren? I think that would be awesome but is it likely? ha, doubt it.

I think the chances we win 50 are closer than your projection that we'll win 38. But we'll see ;D

Well comparing beginning of the season teams from last year to this year looks about 5-6 games better this season.

Hi guys. Like I said once before, we lost about 8-10 games down the stretch last season. mainly, because we lost 4th qtr leads when we :
1. took bad shots 2. Did not rebound well defensively 3. gave up big shots (defensive lapses)
I believe that the team this year, will win those close games. There is LESS selfishness ( AW and GP), better chemistry and I hope a better group defensively (Perkins, Al, Gomes and RD - yes, RD). We will using more speed in our game this year as well.

Since I needed a Celtics fix last night, I popped in Game 1 of the playoffs from last year. If there was any game that signified our need to play uptempo (and with a heck of a lot of energy) it was this one. For most of the first quarter, the lineup of Raef, Walker*, Pierce, Allen, and Payton* did absolutely nothing (*no longer with the team). They played a slow, and very deliberate, style of basketball, shooting in the low 30% and falling behind early. The crowd was getting a bit frustrated, as the offense was struggling (Walker was 0 - 7 at this point, missing all his shots that were 5 feet from the basket). It was like walking in mud. No one was moving without the ball, and almost at all times, it was either an isolation for Walker on the left block with Payton (or Pierce) feeding him the ball, or it was Pierce with the ball in his hands trying to get some offense going. No running hard, no ball movement, no pushing the tempo, etc.
Then, after the first quarter began to dwindle down, Doc Rivers finally decides to mix it up and brings in Ricky Davis. It was like a shot gun going off in a park full of birds--Ricky absolutely changed the dynamics of the game. He came in with energy and determination that he was going to get the offense going, and he did exactly that from the very first possession. He hit his 1st three shots and let everyone in the building know that he was here to win this game.
The game was then put away as Rivers puts in Banks and Jefferson (along with Delonte and Mark Blount). These guys played with energy, with tenacity, with urgency, and determination. They built up such a lead (I think at one point, it was like 15 points) and set the bar for the level of energy the team needed to continue playing. The rest of the game was a coast.
The starting lineup (who had to watch from the sideline for a good 8 minutes or so as the young guys showed them how to play ;D) finally came back into the game--but this time, they followed the lead of the young guys and played uptempo with a lot of energy and ball movement and they were able to sustain the lead.

that was one of the best games for banks. the guy was unstoppable for a period in that game.
bleedgreen, i would add that we lost also a lot of close games at the beginning of the season which we have a better shot of winning this season

Just sort of p icking this p lace at random to ask t his question:
I know that DA says the Dickau acquisition will be completed in due time. Has anyone seen indication of what the Cs will be giving up in that acquisition?
