I seen Sura play last year, and that guy has slowed down a great deal. At one point, I considered him an steady shooter who could play a solid PG if asked to. But now, he looks like a different player who has aged quite a bit.

True, but he is a stat machine- kinda like Brent Barry before going to the Spurs. And he is certainly an Ainge player- very smart and knows how to play the game, even though he is not your prototypical pg...remember, he has been battling injuries in recent years- especially last year...maybe you just caught him at the wrong time.

Possibly. Maybe he was nursing injuries when I seen him last. But even his shooting seemed very awkward. He looked like he could only do set shots, but even that seemed very mechanical.

As far as a vet PG I want a guy with a mid-level type of contract with few years left on it. Serviceable at ball control, running an up-tempo offense and willing to hold down pine (when the young PGs are playing well). I want a guy that can deal with playing 10-20 mins/game, letting the 2 younger play and learn.

Sounds like you want Chucky Atkins back (whom I wouldn't mind).

We just need a vet IMO. They don't need to be an All-Star. Just insurance.

Yes, very good choice of words. All we need a veteran PG for is "insurance". Its no wise to think that Delonte, Banks, and Greene will handle the PG position like proven veterans. They will have their lumps and growing pains. Its when they go through these situations where a proven vet will come in handy. Chucky Atkins is an unspectacular PG, but he's steady and is more than able to step in when the young guys get in trouble.
He's not necessarily the guy I want Ainge to go after, but I certainly wouldn't be upset if he came back to Boston for a short time.

All we need is another GP type player who slows all the offense down. YEA RIGHT!

As far as a vet PG Serviceable at ball control, running an up-tempo offense... You must have missed this part John.

Not really. But a vet pg isn't all that matters right now. So far, there have been no bites on one. They should try one year leaving all 3 pg's West, Banks and Greene.

They should try one year leaving all 3 pg's West, Banks and Greene. I could live with that... We have until Feb to see if PP makes it. Might as well do the same with our young PGs. Maybe MBlount too.

Yea because every year when the celtics always got old veteran pg's, it was always slower with them in there whether it be GP, Atkins, Kenny Anderson or whoever else. Our young guns are much faster than all of those past vet pg's we had.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ainge add a vet at PG. I would love to see Earl Watson, but tend to think he will get more than the $2.5 million we have left under out MLE. I thought Brunson might fit the bill, before he signed with Seattle. With Cleveland being on the market and losing out on Jaric, we may get outbid for the better point guards available. Plus I read that nine teams still have their full MLE, so we may have to settle for "serviceable" rather than good.

Lets say settle for nobody. This roster is already full enough.
