I wonder how close we will be to mimicking the Sacramento Kings in terms of every player unselfishly moving the ball around to create a high powered offense? This will determine whether or not we need an stud PG or not. If our players can catch on to the concept of moving without the ball and passing to their open teammates, getting a pass first PG won't matter as much. In this situation, Delonte West (or possibly Orien Greene) will be adequate enough because he's a steady PG who can hit his open shots regularly. Hopefully, they'll be much better on defense than the kings were also.

West seems to have impressed to coaches with his defense (Doc mentioned last year his "defensive IQ" was "off the charts"), and we know Banks can defend. Add Allen and Reed and we have the makings of a better defensive unit than Sacramento. Jefferson, Perkins and Raef give us some shot blocking as well. And I've read that Greene was impressive defensively in workouts this summer. It would be great to see our team develop into the Kings+defense.

From what I've seen of Delonte and the impression that I'm getting from observing him, he'll a solid defender. While Banks may be able to harrass his man by constantly stabbing at the ball and body bumping him to disrupt his rhythm, Delonte moves his feet well enough to be able to stay with his man. But this is not where his value as a defender is. Delonte is good at pouncing at opportunities when they happen. When the ball is knocked loose anywhere near him, Delonte is quick to get to the ball, either diving for the ball, or retrieving it before it goes out of bounds.
Another thing Delonte is good at defensively is helping out his teammates. When a guy's back is turned to him, Delonte likes to attack from a player's blind spot. He often takes a swipe at the ball as he's running past it when following his man through a pick.
I think our future team is going to be filled with defensive players. None may turn out to be All-Defensive players, but collectively, we may have a strong defensive unit who causes a lot of turnovers and keeps opponents FG% low. We've been able to do these 2 things the past couple of years, but the difference with our future team will be how much better we be rebounding the ball. We've been the bottom of the barrel in rebounding for years and year. But tides will change when our young players develop and play more minutes. Even Delonte, all 6'2" of him, is a solid rebounder from the PG spot. Tony Allen is a strong rebounder at the SG position because of his aggressiveness and leaping ability. Ryan Gomes has been a double digit rebounder during his career at Providence. Jefferson has the best natural rebounding instincts on the team, IMO, and Perkins has the best technique boxing out his man. Improving our rebounding statistic will greatly improve our consistency and lead to more success.

i found it disturbing that anthony johnson (or whatever his name is)of all people repeatedly burned delonte in the play-offs. delonte sure couldn't stop him

As these guys develop, I see better d not to mention Ricky added to it. This can be a great team if our young guys turn out as projected meaning Perkins to Lorenzen Wright, Al J to Zach Randolph without the baggage or Green like Miles/McGrady mixed or Tony Allen being 3/4ths the defensive player Artest is. West being another Danny Ainge type. But, I just don't see Banks in this equation. Hes the one I'd move over anyone. This looks great if most of those guys live up to their potential.

BC, its hard to guard a player when you are being illegally picked. I can't believe how much the league allows IND to set illegal picks. Watch all their big men as they set picks. As soon as the ball handler moves past them, they move out a step to get into the way of the defender, or they stick out their hips. If any other team does this, its called a moving screen/pick.
Because Delonte often fought through the pick, he would be left out of the play because Indiana's big men would wipe out Delonte from the play. Anthony Johnson would roam freely because of this, and that's how he looked effective.
When picks weren't being used, Delonte was able to stay with Johnson. But to AJ's credit, he is a physical PG who likes to bump his way around and being that he's heavier than Delonte, he was able to push Delonte back onto his heels when they bumped each other.
But to say that he was getting "burned" is unfair.

The celtics will get Doleac. I think thats a give in that Danny would want one more white stiff as a center. Snyder would be a nice pickup I think. Thats it! He could be our 3rd pg!

Kirk Snyder is not a PG. He's a shorter SG. Built a bit like Tony Allen, except a bit stiffer in the upperbody and not as explosive or slippery. Very tough player who can rise to the occassion.

Utah got nothing for him too! Ostertag is not an even trade. It should have been to Memphis for a future 1st.

If i remember correctly I think Utah hates Lopez and maybe they think Kirk is a bust since he had a pretty uneventful rookie year, but I agree it looked a little lopsided against Utah

Kirk is gonna be a star in NO. But at the same time, his attitude could get worse. Utah coulda worked with him a little if they wanted to. It doesn't seem they have much patience to work with anyone unless they get a proven college player so I can see why they gave 3 picks up for just Deron Williams. Kind of a stupid trade but I see why they did it.
