I'm currently in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. From November to March is the winter season, though it is a bit different from the winter season in the States. It's mostly cold with strong winds and pleasant weather.
Being in the Middle East means desert weather of course, and from April to October it is very hot, with the hottest months coming in June to August.
I play in pickup games and organized leagues as well here, and I never stop rooting for the Celtics. I think it was in early 2003 or 2004 when I began to follow Paul Pierce. KG has been one of my favorite players since his Minnesota days and Ray was one of the most professional people I have ever had the pleasure of watching, not to mention I love his smooth jumper.
So imagine what it was like for me when they all came together. It was like a dream come true. And the championship season - beating the hated Lakers - is something I wil be reliving and retelling my future children and grandchildren.

Very interesting, Rain. Man, for a small message board we sure do have members from all over the place. Are you originally from that area, or did you move there as an adult?

No, I'm not from here, I just came here because there was an opportunity for me to work here for a good living. I am originally from Manila, Philippines. I've been here since December 2009.

That had to be one heck of a culture shock. A relative of mine had a chance to go their for a pipeline job a few years back but he ended up getting sent to Africa instead. What line of work are you in, if you don't mind me asking?

Very interesting to read about the weather in different places. It's really nice here now. Gets into the upper 40's/lower 50's nights and into mid 70's days. Love this weather.

We just got our first serious snow storm. Roads are an icy wreck. Its too early in the year for this nonsense.

Last week, CT had its first snow storm. My usual 50-minute commute was a 1:40-minute commute. Now, the past few days have been 50-60 degree days, and almost all the snow is gone. Mark Twain was quoted as saying "in CT w/ the weather, just wait it changes."

I grew up in Pennsylvania. I don't miss the snow and cold in the least. The Panhandle is pretty cool. We have a winter - It gets cold - but no snow except for very, very rarely. And even though it gets into the 20's some nights, days are usually back up into the 40's.

Here in the Middle East, it is winter season, with strong, cool winds coming from the sea. Kinda makes it nice to jog at the beach barefoot, ala KG's conditioning program. Might just do that this week. i have another tournament coming up and I gotta be ready.

I live in Tennessee, muggy in the summer but, winters aren't to bad except the occasional cold snap. Live on 17 acres and spend most of my time on horseback or a 4 wheeler. Guns are everywhere!! Everyone open carries, so crime is very, very low.
Was born and raised on Nantucket and have been watching the C's for about 40 years.
