Man, oh man, are the stars aligned just right for Danny Ainge. Who, in their right mind, would have predicted Gerald Green falling so far down to 18? This is an incredible pickup for Ainge and for the future of the Boston Celtics.
First off, this kid is an incredible athlete, with very good quickness, with good body strength, and awesome leaping ability. He's equipped with a very solid shooting stroke and exciting dunking abilities. Only a few draft prospects have as much natural athleticism Green possesses. And his slashing ability will fit in nicely with Doc's style. Not only is Green a potentially solid shooter from downtown, but he's also a guy who likes to get out and run. And what a finisher on the break this kid is. Loves to dunk and make the big highlight reel finish.
His high school dunk contest was a thing of beauty. Showed so much prowess throwing down the ball through the hoop. He can easily rival Ricky Davis and Tony Allen as the top dunker on the team.
Not only is he a fantastic athlete, but he's a smooth criminal. He's explosive, but with a smoothness to his game. Not herky jerky athletic.
Now, if Gerald Green is this fantastic on paper, why did he fall to 18? I don't know--why did Pierce fall to 10 and Big Al to 15? Rather than saying that something's wrong with him, I'd like to think that this is part of Ainge's magic in getting the right players.

Maybe the NBA is fixed in our favor suddenly? We need a pg and the C's are stacked.

Yep, here I am, E.
CF, I'm thinking the same thing. We could use a PG who can be a better true PG than Delonte. I see Green as our future SG and if Pierce is still on the team a few years for now, he'll be our SF. With those 2 guys at the 2 and 3, and Big Al at the 4, we need a PG who can run the floor and get them the ball and set them up. A PG who can dictate the offense like Kidd, Stockton, and Nash could really put us over the top.

Could this be atonement for losing Joe Johnson!?

If Ainge doesn't get a PG who is better than Delonte West in the next couple of years, Pierce will be safe. But if Ainge does grab a PG who can push Delonte to SG, Gerald Green will be moved to SF and Pierce's career in Boston may come to an end.
I can see both combinations working:
Team #1
PG- Delonte SG- Green SF- Pierce PF- Jefferson C - Perkins*
* unless we draft a better C than Perkins
Team #2
PG- ? (Jasikevicius, Ukic) SG- Delonte SF- Green PF- Jefferson C- Perkins*
If we get a PG who is a better floor general than Delonte, we become a quicker and more athletic team than Team #1. We become more of a slashing lineup and more dangerous in the open court.
If we stay with Team #1, we are more of a team that uses all scorers to be able to create some scoring opportunities for themselves.

Could this be atonement for losing Joe Johnson!? Good point. He's not as much of a passer as JJ, but there are some comparisons. Man, this is such an awesome pickup for us. I feel real good about this.

Pierce is still a huge weapon for us. It wont be a bad thing to have the likes of Ricky Davis, Pierce and Green rotation with Allen in spot duty.

Pierce is still a huge weapon for us. It wont be a bad thing to have the likes of Ricky Davis, Pierce and Green rotation with Allen in spot duty. In this situation, Delonte will be our starting PG. Going off of his first year in the league, I don't sense that he's a PG who can be a playmaker. Not that its vitally important for him to be one for us to win a championship. But I feel that a playmaking PG will definitely help a team full of scorers to go very far. Or another possibility is that we grab a PG who is more of a playmaker than Delonte and we move West to the bench, keep Green at SG and keep Pierce on the team as our SF. In this situation, West, Allen, and Ricky will not get as much playing time as they would like.

And don't forget our second round picks, and potential undrafted free agents who Ainge might pick up.
