I admit yesterday i didn't like the Cs taking Green. I thought there's no point to taking a player that will take years to develop and then go to another team like McGrady did, when we have PP, Ricky, and Tony, but seeing as how low a lot of other players we thought we wanted went I guess we got pretty good value. I'm content to watch this unfold. maybe by the time our high school kids are getting good our big contracts will be running out

I personally feel Paul Pierce should be gone or even Allen with Green coming in. I see more good things out of him than I do Allen. That I know.

Danny lived by the 3 D's, and this another stellar draft. Green, by the time he is ready to contribute, P2 will most likely be at the end of his current contract. Gomes, is a steal at #50. I still think he has even more potential than most people realize, because he only started to come on at PC. He played local ball in CT (wilby).

I'm trying hard to hold it back, but I just have to let it out. Gerald Green will be a star and he and Jefferson will be the 1 - 2 scoring punch for years to come.
Only Gerald Green can stop Gerald Green from rising to the top. He's got almost everything you could ask for in a wing player--athleticism, height, length, strength, shooting, creativity, slashing ability, spectacular dunking ability, speed/quickness, a quick first step, fearlessness, and the attitude to prove others wrong.
I am predicting that both Jefferson and Gerald Green will represent Boston in many All-Star games once they reach their full development.
And I'm feeling that Green is not going to take too long to be contributing. He's already got a good idea of what he's trying to do with the ball in his hands. He attacks the opening very quickly as soon as it opens up. And he attacks it hard. He's not looking to merely lay the ball in. If an opening arises, he's going to attack and finish with a big throw down.
He's also a fine shooter from the perimeter. He's going to have to work on hitting NBA three's, but his outside shooting form is already rather effortless. With his slashing ability, guys won't be able to play him too tightly. And with his three point shooting ability, they can't lay off him too much either.
As he gains experience, and with hard work, he can develop other parts of his game. Haven't seen too much of his midrange game, or his ability to stop on a dime and pop a J. His dribbling seemed good in the game I saw, but I'm sure that he can stand to improve on this also.
But overall, I estimate that in his third year in the league, he's going to be our best wing player. Not potentially the best wing player we have--the best wing player we have on the team.

I compared him to Deshawn Stevens before. That was unfair seeing as how he has 3 inches on him. i now think he has a distinct possibility of being better than JR Smith and could give Josh Smith a run for his money. I admit he seems extremely athletic and I finally saw video of him making decent shots this morning, but I don't see him surpassing PP or Ricky in 2 years. I do think he's probably a better prospect than Martell Webster. I don't like the Mcgrady comparrisons because people forget Toronto got nothing out of McGrady. I think he should have gone to school.

He'll be much better than Webster. Martel is a Michael Finley in the making. Gerald Green is Tracy McGrady in the making ;D. Guys with incredible athleticism and a jump shot will go far if they have the right attitude and desire. So far, all signs indicate that Green has what it takes to be a star. I can see him passing Ricky Davis once he develops.

I hate to rain on parades and i like this article and it makes me hopeful but by this logic we should have drafted Josh McRoberts if he had been available

Well they would have to pay for the rental. ;D That sounds bad... How about, I believe in their choices, after the last couple drafts.

Celtics17, I am sure Danny would hire you. You could be Chris Wallace's special assistant.

i cant believe the celtics got Gerald Green with the 18th pick. I was at my house watching the draft and as he and Granger kept dropping i was like Holy !!!GREENIAC!!! we are going to get Granger or Green. When the Pacers picked Granger i just knew we wer going to pick Green. I couldn't believe how all these teams passed up Granger and Green. There were so many promises made. Portland made a promise to Webster, The Lakers to Bynum, Golden State to Diogu, The Clippers to Korolev. after the top three point guards were drafted all the other teams drafted big instead of grabbing the best available player. We got a top lotto pick at 18. It is amazing to me. The Celtics are back. I have a feeling this kid will see a lot of minutes because of his shooting ability. Tony Allen is great but this kid is already a better shooter, taller and just as athletic as Tony. If he plays ok defense he might even start.
