Haha I often get seduced into renting some of those direct-to-video stinkers. Sometimes they can be a treat, but more often than not they're a complete disaster. Whatchamacallit...that movie erm..Ah Slumdog Millionaire..the won that won all those Oscars was nearly a direct to dvd movie..Imagine that. Heck without the influence of Peter Jackson who created Lord of the Rings and all, then I reckon District 9 might also have ended up a direct to dvd movie..

Speaking of movies, recently the Hollywood Video store by me announced it was closing. Now that was the chain that came into the area, right before the Tommy K's (local video) stores closed. Hence, there won't be a video store nearby me anymore.

Plus they're really quick to download and watch..although I'm not sure if they're as cheap as renting them from a video store. And their stock isn't too extensive. Or just hmm..isn't there a dvd rental service in america that delivers em right to your door then you send em back after a coupla days?

I lucked and moved right by a great video store, but I wonder how long it's going to stay in business.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but it is a very good movie. Some of the best acting performances in a comedy ever. Peter Sellers was a beast.

Hollywood video seemed to have a great pricing scheme too: $3 for new movies; $2 for old movies; both 3-nights. Guess my days for renting movies are over.

I caught Clash of the Titans last night. Average fantasy movie where good guy wins and bad guy loses in the end. Nice effects and all I guess but seeing it in 3d is a waste of money.

Yeah, I've heard that the 3-D is miserable in that one.

Speaking of "remakes", seems like any movie now a days is either a remake of an '80s movie, or a copy of a '90s movie.

Hmm watched a show called Law Abiding Citizen today. At first I thought it would just be another boring action film but it is actually quite interesting. However, the ending was a put off..really didn't end well for me. I had envisioned a different ending to be honest. Oh well still a 7/10 in my book.

I rented "Surrogates" this weekend, starring Bruce Willis. Thought the movie was OK, though it was like a xerox of xerox (almost like every movie these days). C+.
