District 9 is very well Done a lot of Politic involve like the Palestinian situation and how south Africa was rule during the apartheid time Thing I loved about D9 was the fact that it was done on a low budget. Goes to show you how good films can still be done without a Hollywood 400million dollar budget. Obviously if they had spent more, the aliens would have looked more realistic but overall for the money they spent on it, they sure made a hell of alot back.

I'd give it a three and a half. Better than your average horror movie, but nothing that I'll ever need to see again.

Yea three and a half stars is what i would give the Crazies too...I didn't like the ending much at all, but there's some very cool scenes and it ends up being a pretty entertaining flick.

I enjoyed District 9, thought I had a few issues w/ the movie:
>it ended w/out a conclusion (aka sequel?) >there were a few other minor issues, like "how they were breething", and how Wilkus got infected

He got infected with the sort of fuel they use to power their mothership..so unless they use a type of fuel beyond our understanding where their fuel is actually somehow part of their DNA and managed to cause Wikus to turn into one of them, I don't see any other explanation for it. As for their breathing, I guess they breathe oxygen as well? Who knows how their planet is like.. And as for the ending, I guess it works for those who would like an open ending and for those who hope for a sequel. I was alright with the ending I guess..And I don't know if I want to see a sequel where he comes back with all his buddies to free his pals stuck on earth...

Finally saw Avatar. Insultingly absurd from start to finish. Unoriginal and the special effects weren't nearly as great as people said. Proof that sometimes all you need is advertising.

I would agree with the unoriginal part. We've seen this story line plenty of times before (Dances With Wolves is the most popular example). The other thing that bugged me was how one-note the bad guys were, escpecially Ribisi's character. If they would've made the bad guys more complex, it would've made the story that much more enjoyable. That being said, I still really enjoyed the movie. Really duge the scenery and the cinematography. I enjoyed the 3-D stuff for the first 10-15 minutes, but after that it was a nuisance.

I think what Avatar really was, for me at least, I thought of it as a glimpse into the future of cinema. Just full out special effects, 3D and great scenery. I for one definitely loved the scenery. Once they improve 3D technology and animation technology, things will seem more realistic than Avatar and who knows..with just pure computers you can do more than you could with just a camera.. more varied types of stories could be told.

Rented "edges of darkness" last weekend. One of the worst movies I have seen. The movie is about a zombie-appoclyse, w/ 3- intertwined tales. Stay away.

Haha I often get seduced into renting some of those direct-to-video stinkers. Sometimes they can be a treat, but more often than not they're a complete disaster.
