Derren, I am thinking that because most posters have not submitted "trades" for their drafts, I think trades should be limited to 3, each worth 3 points. Somewhat treated like a bonus.

I might suggest that each pick right (1st round only) is worth a 'karma' point, if you get the Celts pick at 18 right you get 10 points bonus... BTW----- My pick and I will stay with it, as before,... With the 18th pick, in the 2005 NBA draft, the Boston Celtics sellect ---Roko Ukic He has to change his number now... Havlicek & Danica are off the board - right? ;D

C17, don't you already have enough karma points ;D
Ok, we'll limit the trade predictions to 3 per person and a total of 3 points for every correct prediction.
How about we reward the winner of our draft competition with 10 karma points? We'll tally up the points and see who had the most correct draft picks, trade predictions, etc, and the person with the most points at the end of the night will get 10 karma points.

No No No! ! ! I wasn't saying that the guys with a full 1st round souldn't get a point for each correct pick. I was just covering my but because I only care about the Celtics' pick.
These guys put in some time on their picks...

Here are my eleventh hour predictions for the Celtics draft picks:
#18 Ike Diogu
I am intrigued by Diogu in that, unlike most physical inside players, he actually is a very good free throw shooter, which indicates he should have a good shooting touch from 10-15 feet as well as being good in the post. And he shot 40% from the 3 point line, and is a monster shot blocker with his over 7 foot wing span. He NEVER scored below double figures, even though he was the one good player on a medicore team (ie: double teamed alot) and he rebounded very well. Plus he certainly fits the "toughness" bill that Ainge and Doc preached last year. Also, IMO he has the athleticism and tenacity to be able to play defense against opposing SFs as well as having the wingspan to challenge opposing PFs. Per the Herald he was one of the players Ainge was planning to have work out prior to the draft. IMO Ukic was a smoke-screen, ala Swift.
#50 Ewing. Ainge mentioned he thought there would be good PGs left in the second round, and Ewing will probably be available.
#53 Angelo Gigli. With the NBDL available as a minor league system, Ainge takes a chance on a European big man and develops him for a couple of years in the NBDL.

BTW, I am always amused at the conflicting reports one can read on the same player. Nba.com on Ike Diogu: Strengths: Has a quick, high jump off two feet that allows him to retrieve rebounds before others gather to jump. He has the strength to power through big men and will collect fouls. Runs and works transition game well.www.nba.com/draft2005/pro...Diogu.htmlNBADraft.net on Diogu: Not particularly explosive off the floor, and must rely instead on body control and positioning. Only average in terms of running the floor in transition and finishing on the break. Has a slower than average mechanism on his jump-shot, though his form is very solid. Gathers himself before jumping; not a quick-leaping player.www.nbadraft.net/profiles/ikediogu.asp

Too late Mev! ! ! We don't need your kind around here. ;D
Stop not being here so much. I miss you!
As far as being too late - Derren has it covered.

Yeah, I've read quite a bit of these conflicting reports. The funny part is when the same scout is giving his strengths and weaknesses on a player and he contradicts himself.
"Excellent shooter from midrange off the dribble"
"Needs to work on his midrange shot".

Too late Mev! ! ! We don't need your kind around here. ;D Stop not being here so much. I miss you! As far as being too late - Derren has it covered. Hey, I'm on West Coast time, so I slipped in through the door. ;D Besides, I've got to be a Pac-10 homer somethime. I almost went with "my boy" Dijon Thompson at #53 like nbadraft.net did in their mock, but I really think Ainge thinks he can steal a serviceable PG in the second round, plus we don't need a 3 as much with Ainge being as high on Reed as he is, and with Ike in the picture.

I don't know if its a west coast thing, but Mev, I also thought about putting Dijon Thompson in my second round prediction. He's got a pretty good game. Sort of like a quicker, more athletic version of UNC's Jawad Williams.
Also, we both have Gigli as our second round pick. I always thought that we had a lot of things we agree on. Not everything, but quite a bit.

Too funny. I guess we look for the same qualities in players. Either that, or my Jedi mind powers steered you towards seeing things my enlightened way. LOL
