"Joe, you don't like Charlie V? For those of you who may not know, Charlie has made a big transition in his game this past year, going from a perimeter oriented freshman to a glass cleaning, garbage man as a sophomore. He had a bunch of double digit rebounding games and he's become aggressive in the paint. He's a 6'11", extremely long armed, athletic specimen, who's game is only starting to develop. If you've only seen him as a freshman, you'd think he'd be a waste of a pick. But the strides he made this year gives me hope."
Wasn't there questions about his lack of effort and/or lack of motivation? We don't need another Mr. Funky. We already have Blount. Villanueva, though, could be the big 3 that the team needs. Any chance that Doc and the coaching staff fixes his head? He could be a steal if he brings it every night on the pro level.

Well, as a freshman, he did have that stigma that he wasn't into the game. Even I sensed him as I watched him play--seemed too passive and not interested in playing hard. As a high school senior, there was a comment on his weaknesses that said that even though he was always one of the most athletic players on the court, he wasn't dominant like he should have been.
But he has made that transformation this year. He played hard and actually appeared to have a scowl on his face every now and then. Though he could stand to develop his game another year at UCONN.
I can't predict that he won't turn back into a passive player once he enters the NBA. But if we draft him, I'm sure guys like Jefferson and Perkins can motivate him to play hard.
