JJ Redick hasn't gotten his career off the ground yet in Orlando, and maybe it never will. But a change of scenary and a newfound role as a sharp shooting bench player may be what it takes to get him rolling. Shouldn't take much to get him--maybe dangle Scalabrine?
IMO, Redick can be better than what House is doing for us. JJ is a bit better off the dribble, he comes off of picks and sets up into his shot better, and he's better at cutting to the basket. Plus he's slightly taller.
I think House struggles to get his shot off because he's short and stocky. When he's hot, he needs little daylight to stick it through, but with any type of defense on him, he's neutralized.
I like what House has been doing, and think that's exactly what we need, but I think his limitations may keep him from being that consistent producer. I sense that Redick can replicate what House has been doing, but in a more consistent way.

Redick is a good shooter. I question the rest of his game though. I don't really see where he's an improvement over House. Shooting is not House's problem....

Its not the shooting part of House's game that I think could turn out to be a problem. I just see him having a hard time getting his shots off when teams play even a bit of defense on him. Redick is very good at dribbling past screens and getting enough of an opening to fire jumpers. I'm not saying House can't do this, but I have noticed him having a harder time freeing himself for good looks lately. Maybe Doc needs to take the ball out of House's hands so that he can free himself on the perimeter. The Magic may not want Scalabrine, but I'm not sure if they really like Redick either. If we can get him without costing us much, I think Ainge should look into it. As we can see, good shooting is a premium on our team.

I agree with what you are saying about House. He's better off the ball imo. What we really need is another pg who can just pass the ball imo and set up guys like House and Allen. I know people hate Eric Snow, but him or GP is really kind of what we need. Just someone to spell Rondo for 10 minutes and who can distribute the ball and allow House and Allen to play off of it. It's ok to have House and Ray Allen sharing the pg duties for like 5-10 minutes a game, but they are doing it too much and it's hurting their offense.

We don't need another shooting specialist. This team needs bigger bodies upfront or another PG who can bring up against full-court presses.

yea i agree. I dont think that the magic will get rid of Redick. He will be a good basketball player. He already can shoot, once the rest of his game comes along he will be a threat in the NBA.

I really don't see where Redick is any better than House, and I don't see the Magic giving Redick away this early in his career, not for Scales.
I would rather the Celtics go after a VET. point guard, or get another big body for our front line. IMO, that is what we need a lot more than a point who can shoot, and not much else. who at this point in his career, can onl

In agreement the team needs a back-up PG more.

Redick is trash.
He can shoot although he looked good in college, he is slow and can dribble a bit, house is much faster and a much better defender, he may be shorter but he is definitely a better NBA player.
Might as well look at Wes Miller who is playing in England right now or if you want someone from that draft class what about Dee Brown who is also in Europe.
Ill say it again JJ is trash. he can shoot but that is about it, he will get torched on the defensive end because he is slower than every PG and almost every SG (his speed is closer to a SF and he is a very unathletic 6'4). Most players who lead D-1 in scoring and go to a big time power house program go much higher in the draft (i.e. Kevin Durant). Oh and lets not forget that he went to Dook. Why don't we just go after Trajan Langdon, or one of my favorite players Dajuan Wagner from Memphis a poor man's Dwyane Wade.

W/ the exception of Brand, Boozer, Duke players have choked in the pros. When the only comment is "oh he is a winner", you know the player isn't worth it.

If we had JJ Redick tonight we would have lost. Eddie House had the deflection on the inbound. JJ is trash.
And roadrunner don't forget Corey Maggette Luol Deng and Chris Duhon.

Derren? Are you psychic or is Orlando reading out blog? LOL! Redick has been getting some play since you posted this. And he has been effective as all heck.
