Garnett should have the upper hand in this matchup but will need Perk's help to keep O'Neal out of the paint.  vs  Paul Pierce PPG 23.6 RPG 4.20 APG 4.6 EFF + 21.20 Danny Granger PPG 18.7 RPG 6.50 APG 1.8 EFF + 16.17 Granger is playing very well and always plays well against Pierce. Pierce doesn't have to be the go to guy this year and should be able to concentrate on defending Granger. Keys to the Game:Defense: This is the key to every game and to winning the championship. The Celtics must continue to make defense their calling card and work at shutting other teams down. When their defense lets up, the rest of their game seems to falter as well. Limit Turnovers: The Celtics did much better in the last game limiting the themselves to 11 turnovers after committing 20 or more in several games. Turnovers lead to easy baskets for the opposing team so it is important to take care of the ball. Ball movement: The Celtics offense has been so effective because they have been moving the ball and finding the open man. When the ball movement slows and they go into ISO's they aren't near as effective. Game Notes The Pacers are coached by former Celtics coach, Jim O'Brien. He would love nothing better than to beat his old club as he left the Celtics on less than a positive note. The Pacers also eliminated the Celtics from the playoffs in their last two trips there and there is a bit of a rivalry brewing between the two teams. There is also the GM factor with former Celtics Larry Bird and Danny Ainge vying for bragging rights. It is on the road and Conseco Fieldhouse is a tough arena for visiting teams. Great teams win on the road and so this will be another test for the Celtics. |

This is a game where we need to try to control the tempo and stay out of foul trouble imo. Indy matches up against us pretty good and it's going to be a tougher game. We need to play smart and play defense. Posey should hopefully be back so that's a plus.

Stuck with the Indy feed. I really don't like having to listen to the other team's announcers. For what we pay for League Pass I wish they would give us a choice of feeds.
Pacers win the tip. Celtics doubling O'neal. Granger hits a 3. KG spins around O'Neal and hits a hook shot.. Ball is tipped and it goes out of bounds. Stays Pacers ball. They get a shot off and there is a question as to whether it was a shot clock violation or not. They give the ball to Indy with a new SC. Granger misses and Murphy gets the rebound but KG takes it away. Garnett misses a jumper and Pacers rebound. Tinsley takes it to the hoop and lays it in and is fouled. Murphy's nose is bleeding a little so time out is called with 10:08 left in the first and Pacers up 5-2

They are wiping up blood off the court. Murphy goes back to the locker room to get it to stop. Tinsley hits the FT. PP misses a jumper. Foster rebounds. JO gets a pass inside and has it knocked away. Pacers inbound with 16 on the SC. Tinsley takes it to the hoop and lays it in. Rondo hits a jumper on the baseline. Dunleavy hits a jumper. Rondo hits a runner on the baseline after PP passes up the shot. Pacers miss and Celtics rebound. PP drives to the basket and kicks the ball out. He draws a foul on JO, his second. Celtics inbound on the side. PP's 3 hits the side of the backboard. INdy rebounds. Tinsley misses and KG rebounds. KG lifts Harrison and then lays it in. Harrison hits a jumper. RA misses and Indy rebounds. Tinsley passes inside to Foster who lays it in. PP finds House in the corner for a 3. Foster misses and Perk rebounds. PP drives down the lane and draws the foul. He hits both FTs. Harrison cuts down the lane and draws a foul on Perk. Time out with 5:59 left in the first and Indy with a 14-12 lead.

I really dislike these announcers. They don't really call the game but spend most of the time chit chatting. Celtics aren't being very aggesssive. They are allowing INdy to get position for rebounds and beat them to loose balls and they aren't moving the ball as well as they have been. Hopefully they will get it together or this one will be a loss. Indy should not be getting all those rebounds.

Harrison misses both FTs. REbound comes off the front of the rim to the Pacers. Ball goes inside to Foster for a layup. Perk gets the ball inside and is fouled by Harrison, his second. Perk hits both FTs. Celtics with some pressure in the back court but the Pacers easily pass out of it with long upcourt pass. Granger takes it to the hoop and lays it in and draws the foul. He hits the FT. RA drives down the lane and gets away with a walk and misses a layup. Pacers rebounds. Pacers lose the ball out of bounds. Granger called for a foul and PP goes to the line. He hits both FTs. Murphy drives to the hoop and draws a foul. He hits the first. Pollard comes in for Perk who picked up his second foul. He hits the second. KG misses a jumper and PP rebounds. House hits a 3. Pacers turn it over. RA misses a jumper Foster rebounds. Granger hits a jumper from the top of the key. House's jumper is short and Foster rebounds. Diener misses a 3 and a loose ball foul called on Williams. Time out with Pacers up 23-19 and 2:49 left in the first. There is something wrong when KG has 2 rebounds and Jeff Foster has 5

KG hits both FTs. KG, Posey, Pollard, RA and House on the court. Celtics miss a 3 from the corner and Foster rebounds. Pacers miss and Celtics rebound. KG goes down the lane and hands off to Pollard who lays it in. Williams misses on the baseline and House rebounds. Posey called for an offensive foul. Posey called for a blocking foul as Foster drives to the hoop. Looked like a charge to me. Foster hits the first. Scal comes in for Posey. He misses the second and KG grabs the rebound. Scal hits a long 3. Diener brings it up and stops at the FT line and misses a jumper. KG gets the rebound and fires a 3/4 court shot to beat the buzzer that is wide. Score at the end of 1 is Boston 26 and Indiana 24

Celtics inbound to start the 2nd. Rondo brings it up and passes to Scal int he corner. He fires up a 3 and misses. Dunleavy is fouled and hits both FTs. Rondo Pierce, Scal, Tony and Pollard on the floor. Celtics throw the ball away out of bounds. Tony breaks up the pass and Indy inbounds with 15 on the SC. JO misses a turn around jumper and Celtics rebound. Tony takes it to the hoop and misses a layup but Pollard is there for the rebounds. and is fouled. Celtics inbound on the side. PP misses a layup and Dunleavy rebounds. Pacers miss and Rondo rebounds. Scal hits a 3 from the top left of the arc. JO goes around Pollard and Misses a layup. Rondo gets a block and rebound. Rondo called for a walk. Williams hits a 3. Scal drives down the lane and is called for and offensive foul. Ball movement is non existent now. Perk comes in for Pollard. Dunleavy beats Pierce to the hoop and gets a pass inside from JO and lays it in. Perk called for an offensive foul. Diener misses and Pierce rebounds. PP stops and pops and hits. Dunleavy called for an offensive foul as Pierce takes the charge. Time out with score tied at 31 and 8:45 left in the half

KG misses the T. Celtics inbound on the side with 14 on the SC. PP hands off to Tony who cuts to the basket and is fouled by Dunleavy. He misses the first FT. Misses the second and rebound is tipped out of bounds by Boston. Murphy misses an open jumper. Celtics come out of the pack with the rebound and then turn it over on a bad pass. Tinsley misses and Tinsley and KG wrestling for the rebound. Foul called on Tinsley. KG hits a turn around jumper. JO misses a jumper and rebound goes out off Boston, Pacers inbound with 6 on the SC. KG breaks up the pass and Indy inbounds with 2 on the SC. Indy with a SC violation. KG stops and pops at the FT line and hits. Rondo with a steal. PP drives down the lane and has it stripped. Granger called for an offensive foul. Time out with 5:55 left in the half and Boston up 37-33

Granger throws it away. PP deives and kicks it out Scal who misses from the corner. Pacers rebound. Granger beats the shot clock and hits a jumper. KG spins and draws the foul on JO, his 3rd. KG hits the first and misses the second. Indy rebounds Scal deflects Tinsley's pass. Rondo misses ajumper. Indy rebounds and Granger hits ajumper over PP. Celtics throw it away on a bad pass. Indy misses and Celtics rebound. Tinsley called for a foul. It should have been a flagrant as he hit Pierce hard and was going for the player and not the ball. PP hits both FTs. Scal called for a foul as Granger takes it to the hoop. Time out with Celtics up 40-38 and 2:52 left in the half.

Sorry that was Harrison who drew the foul. He misses the first. hits the second. PP drives around Granger and glides in for a dunk. Murphy misses a jumper and Scal rebounds and is fouled on the rebound. Scal's first rattles in. Second goes in and out and Indy rebounds. KG called for a foul, his first. Indy inbounds on the side. REach in foul on Rondo, his 3rd. House comes in for Rondo. He hits both FTs. PP drives to the hoop and is fouled by Williams. He lays it in after the foul and they call continuation and basket counts. He completes the 3 point play. Harrison called for an offensive foul, his 3rd. House brings the ball up. PP drives down the lane and lays it in. Murphy misses in the lane and he saves the rebound in to the Pacers. KG called for a foul as Murphy backs in. He hits the first. Time out with 1:07 left in the half and Celtics up 48-42.

Murphy hits the second. Scal misses a 3 from the top of the arc. Once the ball goes to Scal, the movement stops. Pacers rebound. Indy turns it over. Williams called for a foul, his 4th. PP at the line and hits both FTs. Big Baby is in the game. ball goes through Rush's hands and PP is there to pick it up. PP drives down the lane and is fouled with 2.8 seconds left in the half. He hits the first. Tony comes back in. He hits the second. Pacers have 2.8. PP steals the inbounds pass and just misses a half court shot at the buzzer. Score at the half is Celtics 52 and Pacers 43

Picking up with 8:40 left in the 3rd. Celtics up 59-48. Dunleavy misses a 3 and Rondo is fouled as he drives along the baseline. Celtics inbound on the side. PP misses a jumper and Indy rebounds. JO hits a jumper. RA drives down the lane and lays it in high off the glass. Indy misses and Dunleavy misses a tip. KG rebounds. Indy foul and Celtics inbound off the side. RA hits a 3. Celtics picking up the defense in this quarter. Williams misses and KG rebounds. Celtics turn it over. Williams gets out ahead and lays it in. RA hits a jumper over Williams. Foster hits a jumper. PP brings the ball up. RA misses a jumper. Indy rebounds. Williams can't finish the dunk and Celtics come back the other way. KG called for a travel. Time out with Celtics up 66-54 and 5:08 left in the 3rd.
