According to the latest NBADraft mock, Deron Williams has shot up to the 4th spot.
Now, Deron Williams is a pretty good PG. He's strong, relatively (or deceptively) quick, got solid dribbling skills, passes the ball well, has pretty good court vision, and is a sturdy leader--but he is not a top 5 player in the whole country.
I've listed some of his strengths, but he does come with some question marks. First off, he isn't that athletic. He takes some risks when he drives to the hoop, and because he's rather stiff in the upper body, he won't be finishing layups as well as you'd like. Marcus Banks is a terrific athlete and he's still trying to figure out how to finish his layups in traffic. Deron Williams is nowhere near the penetrator Banks is, so this might come into factor.
He has average arm length, but it seems shorter because of his stockiness. This leads to intercepted, or deflected, entry passes, and he'll also need to be more precise when feeding the ball into the post. Guys like Tony Allen and Marcus Banks will eat him up alive because they stay low and use their long arms to disrupt entry feeds.
He's also a shaky shooter. His touch is on and off and he doesn't get consistent lift on his jumper.
Now, a lot of this could also be used to describe Jason Kidd--but Kidd is a whole other specimen compared to Deron Williams. Kidd is just a bit more athletic/fluid, but he's a ton more gifted as a passer, with tremendous court vision.
I like Deron Williams as a later first round pick, but not as a top 5 pick.

well, at least he has beenplaying tremendous defense as i understand Eh, I wouldn't call him a good defender. He gives solid effort, but he'll have trouble staying in front of the better PG's in the league. For instance, Chucky Atkins will give him a hard time.

Garcia slid in my mind the second half of the season. Not really sure the reason either. Perhaps he was on his way out.
One aspect to keep into consideration is the other players on the draftees team. Example - williams from Uconn; great PG - but he looks even better when he has Boone, Charlie V, Rudy Gay, and D Brown surround him.

Well, I don't know if you can say its all Deron Williams or those players having off nights. He plays defense with his hands, trying to swipe at balls so he disrupts guys in that aspect. But I assure you that he's not a good defender. But even if he was a good defender, he's still not a top 4 player in the draft.

Dallas paper says Antoine Wright of Texas A&M (all Big 12 forward) has declared for the draft, although he is not going to sign an agent.
Article also says Williams thinks McCants will come out.

I'm pretty sure McCants will declare. His family is in need of some financial security right now (apparently, his mother's prescription expenses are an issue), and he's proven himself at the highest level in college.
It will be a domino effect in UNC--once McCants leaves, it'll cause May to declare. If May declares, Felton will too (no sense in him staying because without May, McCants, and Jawad Williams, there's no way UNC repeats). If all three declare, Marvin Williams will be playing for a mediocre Tar Heels team, so its possible that he'll make the jump too.

The truth being, they would be crazy not to take the big payday. Please give a list of players comming out early for the draft. I would like to see this list and your thoughts DM...

I'm at work so it'll have to wait until I'm home. Probably not this week, but sometime next week I'll post it up. I think it'll be nice for everyone to see who's coming out early. NBADraft has a list already, but I think I'll post a list with my comments on the players.

UCONN is loaded w/ 2 "LLs" next year. They bring everyone back except Charlie V, plus add a McD's All-American center, Bynum?. Generally speaking, UCONNs staff out recruits most colleges, because they get non McDonalds All-Americans, who become lottery picks...
Gordon, Okafor to name a few.
My pick tp win it all next year.

Green has announced he is coming out.
So far what I'm reading is that a lot of guards and 3s are coming out.

USAToday says NC has a press conference tomorrow to announce intentions of May, Felton, and Williams. McCants is already gone.

ESPN just confirmed that as well. They are losing their top 7 scorers. Talk about leaving on a high note.
Good. Now that Marvin Williams is coming out, he should push everyone down a slot at the top of the draft. I think its likely that he's a top 7 pick, though I think he's really raw right now. But teams are infatuated with potential, so he's sure to go really high.
