Runner- Guys like Warrick will get drafted just because of his athleticism. I have liked his game too. With a pro coaches and players to teach him he might become a solid pro. It'll be fun to see some of these guys develope at the next level.

Hakim Warrick will have a decent career in the NBA. On our team, he'd be another offensive sparkplug off the bench. His ball handling, basketball IQ, and perimeter shooting isn't good enough to be in the starting rotation. But pair him up with Ricky and they will be 2 exciting and explosive athletes who come off the bench and give us scoring.

it's funny to watch all kind of draft lists change daily with prospects falling or rising so fast it makes your eyes roll

Speaking of draft boards, currently NBADraft.net has Boston picking Joey Graham with the #18 pick: www.nbadraft.net/profiles/joeygraham.aspI have not seen him play, but have heard good things about him. Sounds like he could be the "big" or "power" 3 that Doc talked about earlier this year.

I agree w/players falling and sliding. Along the same lines, I was reading one draft report, which had Chris Taft going say in the top5, and another draft report saying he wouldn't even be a top 20 pick.

IMO a lot of the ratings come from personal tryouts. Not that they should...
I believe DA sees the whole picture. ;D

i guess it's too early to tell even for danny, but i think he has his eyes set for some players already. a lot depends on personal workouts and the brain doctor assessments as well

Mev, Joey Graham is a good enough athlete to play the 3 and be that big SF for us. But for me, I want a SF who's a bit better at slashing and who can pull up for a long jumper off the dribble. Graham is more of a PF than he is a SF, so he's not used to playing this way as much as he is playing down low.
In a lot of ways, he's similar to Justin Reed, except he's got more athleticism and explosiveness. Both guys are more PF than SF, but neither have the prototypical PF body to be used solely at that position.
RR, if Taft comes out this year, there's no way he'll go past the 10th pick. I think that publication you mentioned underestimates his potential. If he had more of a mean streak, he'll be a big time player.

Derren, most people say the same. I just can't figure out a guy who everyone raves about, and didn't take over a single game. Yeah, the draft is about potential, or "upside" like Hubie Brown use to say, but most players just don't improve like that in the NBA.

Yeah, the draft is about potential, or "upside" like Hubie Brown use to say, but most players just don't improve like that in the NBA. One comment made by a college analyst may have hit it on the head--Taft was playing alongside a very underrated, but very good player named Chevron Troutman. Troutman went by nearly unnoticed, but this guy was the heart and sole of the Pitt team (well, he and Krauser, that is). Troutman stole a lot of Taft's thunder because he was such and efficient player (FG% is in the 60% range). Even in late game situations, Troutman came up big. But he's a senior so he'll no longer play at Pitt anymore. But neither may Taft. If he declares, I have no doubt that he'll be a top 10 pick. I'd take him if we had a pick that high.

what about troutman? will he get drafted? Wwwweellllllllll.................... yes. I do think he'll be drafted. Not in the first round, but I do think that his coming out year this past year will merit enough of a buzz that some teams will make a spot for him in the second round. He's too slow to play SF in the NBA (as well as not having a quick enough trigger to play the perimeter, nor the consistent range) and he doesn't have enough size to play PF. But he showed this year that he is a gamer.

the guy sure seems to have a competitive heart Yes he does. He certainly gets a ton of "and 1's". He has a good chance of being a quality "B Unit" player for a team willing to give him a shot.
