Don't know if folks noticed that Don Nelson has stepped down as coach of the Mavs. Johnson in. Are you implying that we go after Don Nelson and fire Doc Rivers, Ferbo?!! How's that for putting words into your mouth ;D

According to ESPN, Charlie V is declaring for the draft. No surprise, since he thought about turning pro as high school senior. He may not have moved himself up alot, though I think NBA teams have to like his progression. My opinion, if he stayed another year he goes in the top 7 vs. the top 21 of this year.

hasn't he tested waters for two years already and always pulled back?

If I am not mistaken you can only declare for the draft once and still return to NCAA basketball, I know he declared before his freshman year, so if he were to declare, he would have to be drafted.

i think he didn't declare - he participated in some sort of camps but never hired an agent. and when the time come to decide he backed off

I thought there was a big thing with who paid for him going to all the camps that caused him to miss the first 6 games his freshman year. Maybe he never declared just had an Agent or something I'm too tired to find out

My mind is a bit cloudy, but if memory serves me correct, Charlie Villanueva did not participate at all in the Chicago predraft camps last year. After his high school year, he went straight to college without much of a thought about the NBA draft. Both Luol Deng and himself didn't entertain the thought of going pro all that much. And last year, I don't think it was even a question that he was returning to UCONN to develop his game more under Calhoun.
I think this is the very first year that he is contemplating about entering the draft.

Been a lot of unsets in the NCAA playoff ranks. Be interesting to see if that leads to any guys slipping or really rising. Guy at Oklahoma State is really struggling. Not sure if he is a top prospect or not.

Not sure if he is a top prospect or not. Are you referring to Graham? He is a good looking prospect. Physically, he has what it takes to be a good player in the NBA--good quickness, lean and strong body, agility, springs in his legs, long arms, and aggressiveness. His rebounding mentality needs some tweaking, as he has not been the rebounder statistically he could be with his physical gifts. If he slips, it'll only be to our benefit. If Ainge has any incling to draft Charlie Villanueva, this is the year to do so. V's stock will only get higher the longer he stays at UCONN. I'd say that right now, V's stock is in the 15 - 20 area. Next year, as he gains more consistecy, he could move into the top 10 - 14 slot.

Graham could definetly become a good pro, I heard on some interview that Allen was saying he was a more polished player than he was last year, with another year of seasoning he could be a really good player. Maybe not the fire that burns in Allen but Allen himself said that he has more raw physical talent.

Definitely. Graham is similar to Tony Allen in their approach to the game--with reckless abandon. They play hard and rough and they're not there to look pretty.
The thing I'm really impressed about with Rivers and Ainge is that they are able to bring in new players and get them to play the way they want them to. Pierce is a changed player, Toine is a changed player, Ricky Davis is a changed player, etc. I was worried after hearing that Ainge was going after Baron Davis because I'm cautious of big time scoring PG's, but maybe it would have been a good thing seeing how Rivers and Ainge can change players to fit into what we are trying to accomplish.
So if we draft Graham (or any player), we can mold this young guy to fit into our system and fill a niche.

Charlie V was suspended by the NCAA for 6 games, because they felt someone other than himself paid for expenses surrounding the draft. Example- for hosting private workouts.
I like Charlie V alot. I also am starting to like Hakim Warrick as well. Though, not sure how his game would translate to the pros, because he thrived on athleticism, and in the pros, everyone is athletic. Well, almost...Tractor Trailor isn't for sure.
